I guess the “when” plays a big role. If you took a time machine back to 2008 or 2009 and asked a bunch of Fed fans this question most of them would probably say, “F that guy.”
Same goes for asking a Nadal fan how they felt about Novak in 2011 or how a Fed fan felt about Novak in 2015 or last July.
"When" doesn't matter for me. I loved Rafa in 2003 when I first heard about him and still love him. If he passes Fed's 20 slams, so be it. Fed would have no one but himself to blame since he choked away countless slam finals.

Such a GOAT :)

2012-2013 Nadal had a slight edge in the matchup - he was better in the baseline rallies, and the dynamic changed only in late 2013 when Djokovic improved his serve and net game and started beating Nadal in the short points.
Pre-2011: Nadal with a moderate advantage
2011: Djokovic BOAT, unstoppable
2012-13: Nadal regains advantage
2013-2016: Djokovic dominates short points, gains crushing lead
2017-present: Clear surface differences, Nadal wins on clay, Djoker on hard, epic(s?) happen on grass

2011 to 2013 they played 16 times, Djokovic 10 wins, Nadal 6. With that kind of score, no way can you say Nadal was fav before 2014. At best you can say even. You are confusing actual results with who was favored to win.

Is this photo from that insane practice match he played with Zverev in Acapulco? There is something about that tournament. Rafa gets even more hyped up and intense than normal there.

Let Zverev win a practice set Rafa lol.

Agree. As a Nadal fan, I would describe the rivalry in that era as defined by momentum changes and extremely close.
