Federer Fans - What do you think is more impressive

Federer Fans, what do you think is his more impressive achievement:

Reaching at least 7 semifinals at all four grand slams (only two other male players have even reached 5 semifinals at all four grand slams).

Or reaching at least 5 finals at all four grand slams (no other male player has even reached 3 finals at all four grand slams).

Probably the second. Facing probably a top-4 player at the SF stage and routinely making finals is tremendous.

As for wins, if he won RG a couple more times, it would be legendary. I think that depending on how bad Nadal looks this year, he should focus on RG more than the other Slams.

Graf won each Slam at least 4 times.

The 5 finals at each slam.

And Rod Laver did reach at least 3 at every venue.

He's talking about the open era. Reaching the final during the pre-open era(amateur) is too easy.

In 50 years' time, people will say the same about Federer's era.

And you will be an old man bumbling away into your coffee about how Fed is and always will be GOAT. :)

the finals statistic. there's just something about stats involving getting to the finals for me. case in point—while i do find federer's feat of 23 consecutive slam semi-finals appearances impressive, i find federer's 10 and 8 consecutive slam finals appearance nearly as impressive despite each instance having less than half the number of appearances.

The finals, definitely.

Reaching the finals is more impressive because the real difficulties begin in the semi. In an other thread you showed that Nole reached more semi-final than Nadal, but far less finals. Well, he was beaten by Nadal in a lot of them. It shows the difficulty to pass the semi. Especially with the extra dominant top 4 we have now.

Federer's era doesn't have 2 separate fields like Laver had in the 60s.:)

Any future player reaches 5 finals at all 4 slam events, that would be more impressive than Roger.

How do you figure since Roger already has 5 at all 4.

Reaching five finals at all four grand slams. Who cares about the SF streak, I mean it is a great achievement but reaching finals and winning slams is what matters.

The point is in 50 years' time, people will be calling Federer's era weak, just like people call Laver's era weak now. Then they will bump up whoever is the current great at that time, and you will be an old timer insisting that Fed is still GOAT.

Hence you will resemble the old timers currently calling Laver or Rosewall GOAT in the former pro players forum. And there will be a TMF equivalent calling you a silly old man.
