Anybody have an idea of when these drop?

Big questions for this release. Will we get a warm-up jacket? Will we get the accessories (bandana, socks, wristbands)?

Only time will tell

My guess would be close to the U.S.O. tournament, or during. They have released jackets/sweatshirts for the Djokovic/Nishikori lines in the past, maybe sometime they'll get around to for Federer's line.

I really don't understand why Uniqlo isn't marketing the hell out of Federer apparel. I mean, I'd buy a ton of the shirts he practices in with the Uniqlo logo. Seems foolish to me on their part.

One of the previous outfits is always an option (RG or clay). If he gets a new outfit (or colour) then it won't be on sale.

Uniqlo is already doing that. He appears in interviews, promotions etc decked out head to toe with their apparel (well, tailored for him, but anyway), He trains with their normal UT crews or with their dry ex crews that are available outside of his own collection. Whether they have a Uniqlo logo is absolutely irrelevant. He is seen wearing them, which is the main point.

I'm aware of that, my point was more along the lines of actually selling the merchandise to us fans.

Uniqlo has different marketing strategies. Nike always overproduce items so they can send unsold items at outlets. Also they have huge warehouses to store those items but uniqlo does not have same system like Nike.
They make less items at low prices and try to sell items at MSRP instead of 50% plus discounted prices.
big discounts from Uniqlo are either unpopular, sitting inventory for long time or XS and XL or returned items etc....

Regarding on uniqlo logos, Fed and Nishikori wears practice shirts with uniqlo logo but Majority of Uniqlo buyers prefer to have non-logo apparels since their logos are huge.
Unfortunately most of tennis players want logos. Actually they are doing it with tennis apparel lines.
Those active practice shirts and shorts can be used for tennis so if you don’t like those because of logo, that sounds like you like “show off” in tennis courts hahahaha (don’t get me wrong. I always show off at tennis courts hahaha).

Uniqlo’s strategy is not to sell Roger Federer kits but rather use them to bring consumers into their LifeWear clothing lifestyle.

Kinda thought it was obvious as Fed said himself the switch was in part thinking about clothing sponsorship strategies “after retirement” but from how people always complain about uniqlo’s kits maybe not.

Well, that's not exactly true when it comes to discounts. Their player polos often went for 20€ a month after release, same with wristbands for 2€. Not to mention the famous $2 shorts. Fed's RG outift is already on sale as well.

He said "tries to sell them", but in general he is correct.

The RG polo and short have just been reduced and good luck with finding the most popular sizes (also, most accessories are also sold out). They also went down from 39.90 EUR to 29.90 EUR. For comparison, the equivalent Nike polo (the Advantage) went from 70 EUR to 45 EUR, the equivalent Adidas polo from 60 EUR to 45 EUR, so Uniqlo actually holds its price better, considering the original price.

Shirts and shorts for 2 USD sounds good, but you are probably giving an extreme example that won't repeat itself ever for the regular customers, and especially not with Federer's collection.

20 EUR for polo is still 50%, which is above what you pay for the products of Nike or Adidas when they are on normal clearance (not sale).

which in general is not correct as they are pretty well known for big discounts ($10 for $40 jacket etc). And you don't need luck with finding the popular sizes:

Bigger discount may come in a few weeks (also there's the 10€ code for every 70€+ order). Accessories are currently expected to sell quickly at the moment as many people are starting to play in uniqlo gear due to fedr and want to have a complete set (there were no accessories for USO18 or AO19 and W18 was a special release). And discounts are similar percentage wise to adidas or nike offerings.

you said 20 pound but it’s more like 30 pound.
If uniqlo drop the price to 19.99 then most of sizes will be gone.
Also FO items might be least favorite items so I am not surprised that uniqlo still have items for M and L sizes.
10 pound jacket for 40 pound jacket can be found but as I said it will not be popular color or sizes.

Uniqlo frequently have promotion sales for 30 pound for 40 pound jackets.
People started to buy 30 pound level for M and L then if it’s not sell within two-three weeks, uniqlo cut the price to $19.99 then most of sizes are gone then they cut more price to $14.99 then cut another to 9.99.
That’s their usual price cut structure.

When you find heavy discount items are mostly returned items.
Also UK stores do not sell well for tennis apparels in general. They always has extra sizes and items with better prices.
In US, very hard to find any uniqlo tennis accessories. Usually sold out within 2-3 days.

I really wish the Uniqlo tops didn't look so baggy/bulky on Fred.

On Novak and Kei they were a proper fit. The ones Fed wears it sometimes looks like it's a size or two too larg.e

Correct me if I'm wrong, (no doubt someone will) but as Uniqlo retails from their own proprietary stores, wouldn't it be highly unlikely, unlike the situation with Nike etc. that any advance information on colours or styles would be available to non-Uniqlo personnel? I mean, wouldn't you have to retail the stuff to have authorized access to dealer catalogs etc.? Again, happy to be proven wrong. Given that colours and basic design hints are often posted with impunity for other brands, it would no doubt be okay - and more than a little interesting given the 'controversial' nature of their recent offerings - to know, authorized or otherwise - what colours, collar designs etc. lay just around the corner?
