Should work nowHow are you guys able to click that link?
It suprised me because Federer was pretty positive before even though he recently voiced Australian Open doubts.Idk, this struck a more negative tone than I expected. I wonder how his rehab is going.
It'll make discussing former pro players more toxic thoIt'll make discussing tennis less toxic at least that's for sure.

it seems you were so joyful/happy while writing this postAnd should that be surprising?
The guy will turn 40 in August, he has more than 20 years of an extraordinary professional career, having won practically everything (the Olympic gold in singles is a thorn and a motivation at the same time for the Swiss), with a fully established family, with a complicated world situation that affects a sport like tennis, and public access to the stands will depend greatly on the implementation of vaccines in people; with his two main records about to be surpassed (in fact his record of more weeks as number 1 in the Open Era is already history: Djokovic will have that mark as of March 8, 2021), with more than three operations in the knee in recent years, it is absolutely normal that next season will be the last of Federer.

That's their problem. Really, it's going to be funny and heartening seeing the exodus of people and posts from here to FPPT. I'm telling you, Fed retiring would be the best outcome for this part of the forum.
Could it be possible that he just isn’t in the mood to spend all the time in Australia with the quarantine and that’s why he talks about his "condition" now that it is announced? Because he also often said he was happy how well it all went.
So does he maybe prepare an excuse for not going to Australia? No matter what is true it would suck anyway though.
What's gppdLet's be honest. All of the Big 3 retiring would be best for GPPD. Let's not single just one out.
The man shall return for Wimbledon, that is for sure.
Beyond that, I cannot say.
Should have retired in 2012 and not humiliated himself by adding Murray's career as some sort of icing on his cake.

I.e. winning three slams (which equals Murray’s career) all while losing tons of big finals to djokovic

Luckily I didn’t write that.Got that but don't get how he 'humiliated himself' bit.

That's why I'm really rooting for big names in the next generation. Fedalovic are already past their prime and I sure am getting tired of the same faces winning Slams. For tennis to really survive, we need new names even a fraction as compelling as Fedalovic have been.I wish Fed would play forever but of course it’s impossible, Fed was the man for so long, and is the remnant of a bygone era of tennis. Tennis won’t be the same without the Maestro, just imagine talking about Basilashvilli or Rublev everyday.
When it's time, I just hope he goes quietly without making a big song and dance about it. The sport of tennis has given him more than he could have imagined so he owes it to the sport.
Sunny Ali's wish list taped on Roger's bathroom mirror:
1. Go quietly
2. No song and dance about retiring
3. I owe everything to tennis
4. Will leave no legacy except as placeholder for GOAT Rafa and co-GOAT Serb guy.
Great exit strategy!
