Federer is making noise about being able to play tennis again. Exhos...or something more?

Rosstour

G.O.A.T.
Federer has made waves recently by saying how good his knee feels and that he's been back on the court playing matches again.

I find this highly interesting. And I just saw this picture of him--what it tells us?

He is wearing the full outfit seen in his Uniqlo profile page, and those shoes look like they've just been untied after a match.

In other words....he is really playing the game again and he wants us to know. I also think appearing in his full "official Uniqlo PR kit" is significant.

Could the miracle really happen?

The hell are u implying lmao

My spidey-senses started to tingle when Djokovic announced Murray as a new coach.

I thought "Djoko loves to steal people's thunder. Why would he announce this now--what else is coming?"

Then I saw that Roger had been conspicuously spending more time on court, and when I saw that pic of him in full match kit, I thought "something is afoot here"

Could be exhos with Rafa, as Tony Godsick mentioned. Or it could be the real deal. Wildcards at Halle/Wimbledon 2025?

he doesn't need any more endorsement deals or appearance fees.
Lol why?
If I'd be in his place I'd have as much money as I can.
For all the talks of Federer being old (yeah, in tennis he is a fossil) he is actually pretty young if we talk about the peak of one's professional achievements (or in other terms, ££££).

I agree. But he has a billion already, and can be very choosy about what he lends his image to. He doesn't "need" anything at this point

So if he is saying all this crap and being photographed in match kit, it's because he wants to--and feels that he isn't going to damage his image with whatever this is.

So what can it be? It's not nothing. He wouldn't tease this much without there being something to it.

He doesn't need according to you, not according to him.

McEnroe came back to play a couple of doubles events on the regular tour at age 47 -- and won one of them! I could see Federer going that route if he desperately wanted some "real" on-court action and to briefly be "one of the guys" again. Heck, he could probably play DC doubles for Switzerland and significantly upgrade the team. But I agree that some sort of charity exhibition with Nadal is a more likely prospect. Or maybe against Sinner or Alcaraz -- remember that Fed himself played a few of these laughathons against retired Sampras back in the day.

People thinking he can come back are delusional. That could have happened if he (or anyone else) had retired in his early 30s, not in his early 40s and with bad knees and hardly playing for 2 years.

Poll has no close date so people feel free to assume “YES” will win which seems presumptuous.

FEDR could only come back and beat Ruud, Rune, any Bropack member, Dimi, Bweh, ADM or anyone outside of the Top 20. Expecting anything more is pure fantasy.

His knee might be fully healed, but the real question is, could it stand up to ATP-level match play again, at age 43+? Seems far fetched, but stranger things have happened. There have been a number of top women's players who decided to make comebacks out of the blue after not playing for years, so maybe he could do that, or take the Venus route and play an extremely limited schedule and seemingly never retire.

Didn't Rosewall play regularly on tour into his late 40's? Jimmy Connors also still took wildcards into a few ATP tournaments in his mid 40's.

I agree that something is definitely implied in that photo, and that the untied shoes are likely not
an accident. Just what the message is, I don't know. Fred looks fit!

I genuinely think if Fed's knees could hold up he could still play at top 30/50 level at 43. He was awesome in 2019 aged 38, played at a top 3 level practically all year. No reason to think he couldn't play some BO3 matches on HC in smaller tournaments.

I would absolutely love to see Federer back on the pro circuit, but I do wonder how realistic his chances would be to reach a respectable level. Only he can know for sure...

The soccer field behind give us a clear answer.

He's said himself in interviews that it takes at least a year of training to build up the muscles and develop a strong enough base to compete at the highest level. He's a travelling salesman now, he doesn't have time for that ****.

If Federer at 44 comes back, what will his highest ranking be? Top 50 is my guess! I think he's just missing tennis, no way he's coming back to the tour!
