Federer is the greatest sportsman I ever saw

for me what separates Fed and all the other great sportsmen is not only has he achieved all these incredible results in the sport that he does but he’s made the game so unbelievably aesthetic and effortless, it’s almost like figure skating - you watch him not just for the skills, but for the beauty of his movement and shot-making.

I’m saying this as someone who has never really been a fan of any other professional sport and only began being interested in tennis after seeing this guy play. before that I could never have imagined someone could make a game of tennis so beautiful.

not to mention he’s a classy, intelligent, well-spoken, respectful guy who advertises the sport in the best way possible.

I too have been impressed by his sportsmanship. It was highly impressive the way he abused officials in his QF match last week, especially women. Then he was so clever to lie about his use of profanity even when it could be clearly heard by all. There is also his outburst in Shanghai. What a great sportsman to hit balls into the crowd and completely lose his composure!

@King No1e became a normie by making poasts and comments for the sole purpose of baiting likes (Suresh), @MichaelNadal got boring with his edgy horror movie gifs, and @stringertom hasn't been sinning enough for my taste. You are now, my dear @StANDAA , my favourite TTW poaster.

Did you see last year's WTF against Zverev? The ball boy dropped the ball, Zverev finally stopped the point (as he should), even though he had his back to the ball and kid. Federer came up and asked the kid some question, obviously begrudged. I can tell some players would shrug it off, but not the 'ever so gracious' Federer. Fedfans were just as bad, saying Zverev only stopped because he was going to lose the point. No, he wasn't, his last shot landed right on the baseline, pinning Federer behind it.

What BS and here's proof to refute it. Do you hear the commentator who was on site? "Let's give it a lot of credit to Roger Federer who immediately accepted it." And it wasn't last year, it was 2018. Next time, try and post truthful things instead of making up random anti-Fed lies.

What’s with all the new users who keep popping up posting anti-Fed drivel?

Federer vs Bolt isnt a contest, Federer not even the best of his era, Bolt's records have stood for 11 years and will stand for another 20 years

Federer-Tsisipas '19, 4th round, 1st set tiebreak, Tsisipas facing set point. He volleyed into the net, because some Feddfan yelled as he was about to volley. Federer didn't acknowledge that in any way, just walked off as though he deserved the set. But justice was served, Fed lost two tiebreaks and the match.

Fedfans behave like that often, especially against Djokovic. To my knowledge, he has never ask his fanbase to stop such behavior. Is that too much to ask?

Respect for him but never my cup of tea. The same way people say Rafa is fake humble or Novak is trying too hard, I can clearly see Fed's public image is decades of PR work.

Nadal is better in my opinion, never broke a racquet, never yelled at the crowd, and doesn’t have a b*tchy wife who tries to throw off the opponent. I don’t know man, seems kinda sus to me.

It's just as simple as that.

I'm +30yo so I've watched a lot of WC athletes, but Fed has something special about him. He's simply unique, he ticks all the boxes.
You should explain your reasons. Maybe he is unique in the tennis sport for some reason but have seen athletes like Maradona, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Muhammad Ali, Usain Bolt and a few others and they were more unique, more special and more talented imo.

Sportmanship has much more to do with respect for your opponent which he always has. An occasional brief outburst or complaint to the umpire is fine. Unless you take it to the level of verbally abusing or threatening the umpire or line judge or if you have an extended argument to stall the game and the momentum of your opponent, it's not an issue.
