And even if not reflected in the scoreline, 'twould certainly be apparent to all and sundry that a real measure of poetic justice has been laid down.

The last great version of Federer there was RG 2011.
At 38 years and 10 months he is not a threat anymore and even someone like you, deep down, you know it.

I personally do not believe in that since I consider that the athlete, it is to say, a prisoner of his time, many cling to the idealization of certain characters without glimpsing that the records that seemed unbeatable, invincible, perennial will eventually be surpassed for generations to come; hence the great mistake in continuing to call, due to an obvious subjectivism, that the idols of the people, to which they clung all their lives, are the best in history.
It's not like that.
Although I admire those who defend their favorite player by cape and sword, I do not follow that kind of opinion that they consider to be free from criticism; Unfortunately, here and in many sports forums, they crush and try to eliminate those who do not follow their preferences.
It is something irrational and dangerous, I would say: foster hatred for insignificant things.

What a beautiful fake panegyric. If you truly believed in what you wrote, you wouldn't be taking cheap shots at any player for his perceived status, which is what you do mostly here on this forum, "fostering hatred for insignificant things".

didn’t he make the semis this year? easy to put someone down and act brilliant if it happens and slink away if it doesn’t. stick to picking lottery numbers

This year is already part of the past.
It does not mean anything.
What you believe or desire does not mean that it will happen.
Federer has no chance at RG.
He will only go for people to see him one last time in Parisian clay.
Anyway, he feels he can play a good role there.
His self-confidence is not taken away by anyone, that nobody doubts!

He was a point away from going 5 with Nadal at Wimby. Y’all bring up his age to soften blows and exaggerate highs, then insist that he isn’t aging when retirement gets brought up.
