Federer - Matches won at 2014 French Open compared to Sampras

Federer at almost 33 won the same number of matches at the 2014 French Open as Sampras - a Tier 2 Great - won in his last 5 French Opens combined at the ages of 27-31.

And Ken Rosewall, at age 33 at the 1968 French Open, won more than twice as many matches (7) as Federer won this year at the French. I guess that makes Fed something like a Tier 3 Great.

^^ I was referring to the number he won at the 68 FO only.
I don't know if you're trolling but it's silly to compare player's one specific year(rather than entire career) to draw a conclusion. Rosewall also has 1 FO title in the open era and plus most people place Roger higher than Roswall in all time greatest clay courter.

LOL at Roger a tier 3 great.

TMF is right on the money here. In fact, Federer is above Borg, Rosewall and even Nadal on clay.

Yeah, have to agree with you and TFM here, I think that Nadal need at least 10 titles at RG if he wants to surpass Federee on clay...
Dumbest comment I have heard in awhile. Nadal is clearly the greatest player ever at the French Open, as well as, the greatest player at one grand slam in history. End of story.
