Federer - and that by a humongous margin. But wtf happened to this forum? We used to outnumber you guys... - now it's an even split

All about thread timing
I think a few of the guys have taken a break from the boards since he's not played in almost 9 months
Then considering tomorrow is a big match between the other 2, not a big surprise they scoop their fair share of votes

Yes I have followed tennis for 30+ years. Are you confusing Federer's game face with his off court personality?

I am not confusing anything, you seem to be the confused one, especially for someone who's followed tennis for 30+ years. Edberg was his coach, of course he seems he holds him high. Federer's nasty persona you could've witnessed so many times in two of those three decades, without me showing you.

Why weren’t you talking about that? Seems awfully selective to focus on the negatives on some and ignore it from others.

Yes, it's selective, because the thread is about selection - I am selecting the one who does not do bad things the other two do. Not the one who does bad things the others also do, that would not be selection in any direction.

I have no idea what you are talking about, what nasty persona?

Explain how Fed isn't a decent person? And Novak having rages on court doesn't preclude him from being a decent person either. Fed gives 20 million a year to one of the poorest countries in the world, Malawi. Isn't that sort of the epitome of being a decent person?
Something something Arrogаnterer Arrogantovic

Wondering about the ratio of members' support here.

Djokovic is often disliked because of his poor on-court behaviour. Breaking rackets, even after attaining ATG status does not make him the the best role model for kids to imitate. However, he is not obliged to act differently (whatever suits him), but a point for some to consider anyway.

Federer is often disliked because his main competition for many slams was against against the likes of Roddick, Safin, Hewitt etc. Aged versions of Nadal, Federer and Djokovic (along with the likes of Stan & Andy) are overall regarded as superior to Fed's competition. Therefore, Nadal and Djokovic have according to many won their slams amidst tougher competition (for a longer period). This often serves as a reason to irk many fans of Djoko, Nadal etc. Although this bears no reason to dislike Federer (and objective fans do not).

Nadal is often disliked by fans of Fed & Djok, because he has won only 7 slams (out of clay) and has inferior consistency as the top most player like Fed & Djokovic (significantly lesser weeks at 1). This provokes fans who claim, he doesn't belong on the same pedestal as Federer and Djokovic. However, he arguably has the best on-court behaviour, and is an incredible role model. Never even broke a racket.

This thread is about "whom you like the most", and not about their standing in history.

Djokovic by a good bit. Having played tennis my life I like players that make things look easy, he fools most people that they say he is robotic and has no real weapon but that is the weapon he makes everything look so easy. Federer is second I like his tennis like most. Not a fan of Nadals game but overall respect the whole lot of them for what they have achieved
I love Nadal for his fighting spirit and never say die attitude. His tennis style is not something i would advocate for youngsters. For me tennis should be played on the baseline taking the ball on the rise. Standing 2 miles behind the baseline is suicidal on a fast court with a true serve volleyer. The sad thing is Thiem has taken it to a whole new level as he actually stands next to the line judge.

It's marketing and image.

Wow.

The ability for people to see deep into other’s hearts and discern their true inner motives on TTW never ceases to amaze me.

Roger is more entertaining to watch than Novak to me but Roger is too media friendly for me to support. Novak is more human

Djokovic hasn't impressed me much. Neither has Nadal really. But Nadal has been clutch not to lose a set, while Djokovic lost every set he could possibly lose.
Djokovic has lots of big weapons though: serve, forehand, drop shots and mentality. Nadal on the other hand didn't impress at all, even though he upped his game a bit in the semifinal.

Someone's got Nadal paranoid! The announcers today said something about Rafa out practicing running after drop-shots and lobs!

Things I like about the Big 3:
Federer - everything about his tennis. Never get tired of watching him play, even if it’s vs the most boring of players like PCB/Ferrer or Isner/Karlovic.

Djokovic - his diet, his holistic approach and alternative views.

Nadal - his never say die attitude. He would never have folded if 40-15 at USO 2011 (the junior shot) happened to him. He stays so focused at the task in hand.

I was as much a Fed fan as anyone, giving him kudos for being the GOAT early on even though H2H he's behind Nadovic! His perpetual "hanging on" started bothering me though; really hoping for that NG to take over and it hasn't even come close to occurring! Seemed like a good time to pack it in when he failed to win GOLD at the 2012 Olympics! He haunted the tour for over 5 years before finally winning these last 3 majors keeping him barely ahead of Nadovic! Never been a fan of Nadal's even as a kid; so many reasons he just rubbed me the wrong way! I started appreciating Djokovic in 2011 when it appeared he took over the top rank! I was hoping for good, but it flipped around the 3 of them throughout the decade with Nole holding a mild advantage! Right now, Nole style is not my fave, but of the 3 top players, I look more favorable to Djokovic since his winning is more balanced! This FO will lock it up for me making him the BOAT owning all 14 major ATP titles at least twice so far! Fedal don't even come close IMO! :sneaky:
what's NG?

Good comments in this thread (y)

Love all three of them for what they did to my beloved sport. Personally, I don't like Roger's game as it seems way too easy (I know it's not.) While I do enjoy Rafa's play and skills, I prefer Nole's game as he had to grow and learn how to take both of his main rivals down. Interesting how Nole is not hiding anymore that Rafa is his biggest rival.

"when you hate someone, you only hate that part in him/her which is also part of yourself, rest of the things don't even matter to you"

i often feel how true that is.......i personally never took liking to fed's behavior because i myself am like that in some aspects in my own life.......some of my friends feel that i am full of myself and that i keep a distance with them, i do that because it suits me and doesn't harm anyone........i have very few close friends, like 2 or 3 who i really trust........not very outgoing, just keeping things tidy and neat for myself and get annoyed over simple things that don't even matter in the long run........yes i also cry somewhat when something pains me, well that's just me and i can't change it........

nadal is total opposite to what is written above, i admire his fighting qualities maybe because i cannot fight to the same level that i like him a lot more than other players........maybe that is why i am his fan and not arrogant fraud's........

i cannot relate to djokovic in anyway, he is like your hyper active friend who you can't avoid and can often become annoying with his presence and behavior........

No, you didn't get it. It's just our opinions. Sorry to disappoint you, but it's hard to know these things for sure.
