Federer, Nadal or Djokovic will win the 2019 US Open

Queens was a 250 event back then....whats the relevance of a 250 event? Do you actually follow tennis? I mean that in all seriousness as it seems you cannot differentiate between a 250 event and 1000 event?
In the absence of a Grass Masters, Queen's has always been the premier warm-up event for Wimbledon (look at its draws) so it was never just any old 250.

I’m willing to do a bet with you. Are you in?
If I win you have to join the prediction league for 6 months and prove yourself and your skills.
If you win, what do you want me to do?

I also think it’s a 50% chance Federer will not even reach the semis. When I see the draw I might do a double bet on that too.
I have no clue what the "prediction league" is but I'm in coz I know Rafa won't beat RF. In fact, Rafa won't beat RF ever again on hard court. (Not counting the senior tour in 2049.)

So the bet counts only for their semis duel. If neither or just one reaches semis, then the bet is moot. I.e. the bet isn't who'll go further but only who'll win in a potential semis.

Or finale. But that's completely unlikely. We're not in 2010/2011 anymore...

Or no, wait. We are in 2010/11. Still the big 3...

We've already tried explaining this (and lots of other things) to him... no use though. Not willing to learn.

Most addictive thing in the world imo. Nothing feels worse than losing cash or better when winning it.
I know!
I understood it was addicting already at 17. I played away all my money for the trip on a holiday, a casino. So I knew I had to be careful after that.
I’m only making bets sometimes for a match. For USO maybe only one bet all together.

I've been there. When your buddy has to pay for breakfast the next morning, you know you've hit rock bottom :giggle:

Yup.

Get ready to lose.

Still dunno what you should do if... I mean when I win the bet...

I don't know your player affinities (aside from Mrs. Graf), so it's not easy to come up with a "punishment" for you...
I can do the prediction league too then. It’s quite much work specially around the slams.
But it’s a mild punishment really and it can be fun.
It’s in the match results section of the forum. People predict matches, every match. Slams, 1000 and some 500s I think.

Not sure I wanna punish you like that... Doesn't seem right.

I’m currently leading the other league in here though for Cincy, which is more like betting.
I have done well sometimes in those leagues before.

Problems w those leagues is that it makes me want to place real bets :X3:

Normally I'm against betting for money, but today's men's tennis is 100 times more predictable than in the 90s for example when you could basically only lose money betting on tennis. It was chaos back then, almost like the modern WTA tour.

It depends which matches. Rare I bother to bet on big 3 matches. But have to follow the tour closely to be able to do that and lately I’ve been busy.

But if Federer is drawn on Djokovic's side,
Federer and Nadal will be on the same side. I am 99% sure.

I know statistically the chances are 50%, but I bet UsOpen wants Fedal faceoff.

And then one of them will lose before making the SF date.

I have to agree with you here.

And I think they also want Djokovic against one of Federer or Nadal in the final there. The Wimbledon final rematch just sells itself, and Nadal v Djokovic played the AO final.

Federer-Nadal in the same half is a lock. We all know draws can be rigged, and time is running out for a Federer-Nadal U.S Open meeting. They will want to increase the chances of it, especialy as neither is beating Djokovic at the Open I am pretty sure.

I agree one or both will lose before the semis anyway and it wont happen yet again though.

This is probably accurate also, though I think Nadal is little closer to Federer, I do think that is the correct pecking order as it stands right now.

I wish betting would be legal in India..
So many of my sport predictions have been turning out to be true

Your courage is noted.

Djokovic and RF are favourites. They are at 100%. No Rafa needed to get that 100%.

Rafa has zero chances of winning it if he has to face either RF or Novak, and he would have to.

The rest of the field?

Snicker.
Unfortunately Federer is not the favorite, especially if the bounce is as high as it was recently at the USO.He has only played one final at the USO this decade.

Nadal has a better shot at the U.S Open than Federer IMO. Federer might win if they play (although not even sure there), but Nadal has a much better U.S Open record since 2010 now than Federer. Federer has not been in a U.S Open final since 2009 now, how on earth could he be 2nd favorite. Especialy now with the courts slowed down.

And FWIW the oddsmakers all pretty consistently have Nadal at lower odds than Federer, although they are closer than I would have it:

The Swiss has no chance of winning the Open.
The big favorite is Djokovic and the second big favorite is Nadal.
Then there is a big gap where a young tennis player can do a lot of damage:
Thiem or one of the Russian players might surprise.

I love the fact that USO officials - who rig draws more than any other big event - have never had the pleasure of hosting a Rafa-RF clash.

AO - 4 times
FO - 29 times?
W - 4 times
USO - big fat zero (yet so close so often: 08, 09, 10, 11, 17, and at least once more)

These corrupt ratings-obsessed crooks would do anything to set that duel up. They'd even seed one of them as 7 or 8 to place them in the same QF draw. Unfortunately for them, that kind of draw rigging is illegal.

Tee hee.

When has that ever mattered? You're talking about the modern ATP.
Also, even they couldn't have accounted for all of Tankerer's near escapes from New York City beatdowns at the hands of his Once and Forever Master. It takes a true escape artist to not only evade Nadal, but the system itself.

Well, I meant illegal as in OBVIOUS, the kind of rigging that can't be hidden. Nobody would tolerate Rafa or RF being lowered seed-wise from 2 or 3 to 7 or 8. It can't happen, even at the most corrupt tournament.

Nadal does better at USO than Djokovic unless injured, hence the 2-1 h2h. Nadal rarely plays indoors lol. I expect Nadal to end his season after he wins USO this year. No need to play irrelevant indoor events.
Uh, no. Nadal is 58-11 at the USO. Djokovic is 69-10. Nadal has won 3 times and was runner-up once. Djokovic has won 3 times and was runner-up 5 times. Your small, cherry-picked 3-game sample size doesn't overcome looking at the whole picture.

It wouldn't even be a contest. RF in three sets. Because:

1. Rafa fears RF.
2. Rafa is usually plagued with injury by the time he gets to USO QF/SF.
3. Hasn't beaten RF on non-clay since half a decade.
4. RF will be in top form.
5. RF figured out how to beat Rafa hence no longer fears him.

And they should play in the same half. 2 seed should always get 3 seed in semis. I hate that random crap, 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4. That's rubbish.
I am a huge fan of Federer, but you're trolling now lol. Federer might win in four against Nadal but not in three ;) Has never done so.

I'm taking those odds. 99,9% looks pretty good. Who wants to bet against this?
I would love to bet against this if the odds are 0.1% that another player will win. Please tell me where I can put up $1 to win $1,000 if none of Federer, Djokovic, or Nadal win the US Open, I go and put $5,000 immediately against that to win $5 million.

I agree that the events don't matter much in themselves, but the year-end #1 ranking does matter, and Nadal would have a good shot at it if he won the US Open and some chance if he were runner-up at the US Open. It'd be a shame not to compete for the year-end #1 ranking, wouldn't it? Not playing after the US Open would really reduce his chances. He could still manage it if Djokovic imploded, but it isn't likely.
