Yes.

I don't remember when it was, but he told a story once of how they first got together, and she was a bit hesitant initially because he was still 18 (I think it was their first kiss, or something), and he said to her something along the lines of, "Well I'm 19 in a couple of weeks."
 
A lot of eyerolling comments on this forum and social media about the introduction. First, thinking that Federer thinks of Nadal before his wife to introduce him. Second, "I didn't know what Mirka's voice sounds like" when she spoke on the documentary showing Federer's last twelve days on tour. Lastly, "I didn't know Mirka was three years older than Federer." That one is definitely not believable because was used as a weapon when dirt wasn't found on them"

I will ask the mods to merge both Fed News threads.

The Federer News thread on GPPD is not gone, it's just locked, which was a decision by the mods analogous to the end of Roger's career. The same thing happened to the Nadal News 2.0 thread when Rafa ended, and the same thing awaits Djokovic News when Nole ends his tennis career.

Both Federer and Mirka made excellent speeches. I would have expected Rafa, Novak, and Andy to be there, but Fed did mention them in dispatches. I liked Fed's pitch; it wasn't about who he beat or bragging about what he won. He recognised the whole tennis community and everything that makes the tour successful.

Yah man, superb HALL OF FAME induction. Enjoyed Roger's speech-warm, moving and full of gratitude for the myriad ways in which those he has worked with or come across have helped and supported him.

Appropriate for his beloved Mirka, who has supported him throughout the wonderous journey, to introduce him and share her love and admiration for him. He is the beloved also of Destiny - exquisite game, superb achievements, grace and elegance on and off the court. loving family and wonderful family life, the admiration of fellow players and fans globally- even post retirement etc.

It is well known that Rafa and Novak never liked Federer and he was the one who was associating with them when he started losing to them. I am not surprised that they ignored him.
 
Federer mentioned the new generation from his, being Andy, Novak and Rafa. There is no denying that there was a Big 4.

Rafa saw Federer as his big brother. Federer didn't want Rafa around to begin with, because Rafa dominated him, but he finally concluded that the rivalry was good for the sport. Federer was a little patronising to Djokovic, but in the end acknowledged that he was a great player.

Federer was the guest speaker at the inauguration of the Rafa Nadal Academy. Federer also stayed there with his whole family this year.

The way he retired summarizes it all. Instead of losing first round in the last match to a nobody, congratulating him, and then heading out into the sunset like the greats have done, he engineered his own fawning farewell at the Laver Cup. He wanted to write his own story the way that flattered him the most. But tennis writes the story, not an individual player.

I thought his speech was overall pretty good and quite emotional. The ball kid story at Basel and his homage to Edberg, Sampras and Martina were touching. Not too much on his rivalries with Nadal and Djokovic which may shock TTW due to the infatuation and saturation of "Big 3" talk.

Nadal and Federer have been classy by respecting their rivals. Watching Rafa's documentary, I said he pitched at a level where Federer and Djokovic would be happy to sit and watch it with their children; Federer did the same; he did not go on about counting beans or putting his rivals down. Unlike Djokovic, whose whole tone was to brag and emphasise that he was always destined to be #1 because his first coach said so, when it's not unusual for coaches to say that to their charges.
 
All these people saying "why didn't he invite Rafa?" - how do we know he didn't?

Maybe Rafa had an important prior commitment, maybe there was a family event he didn't want to miss or maybe he thought it was a bit too far to fly to the USA and back just to smile and clap for the public when he could congratulate Roger privately in a five minute video chat?

That seems more likely than them secretly hating each other.

You guys still on this? It was Federer’s induction, not Fedal. Enough with the Fedal and Big 3 nonsense. Federer doesn't have to mention them every time he opens his mouth and vice versa. If they are so great, they don't need to piggyback off Federer spotlight. Roger had Mirka, his WIFE introduce him as it should be. Nadal's presence was not needed.
