Part of me want to think ‘USO you get what you deserve. You scheduled Fed at night wanting to milk him out for cash now you’ve lost all the cash you could make for semis and final’. But hey that’s very naive as this is a slam, it will survive whoever are left in the draw but Fed didn’t
Fan ... I don't understand. Why would playing in the night be a problem? If anything, it should help because in the day time, the heat can be stifling.

the way fed described the issue, it was something that would have been fine in two days which is why fed was upset that he couldn't find a way to beat grigor because by Friday he would have been okay
Fed played the best he could given the situation. Dimitrov didn’t do anything for the year and also had a w/o from Coric. If Dimitrov had played a 5 setter against Coric, it would have been a different outcome. Dimitrov was ready to play a long match against Fed while Fed had his serve and BH desert him.

Fed was failing on lot of rushing to the net and half volleys. He just wanted to end the point somehow or the other.

Road trips are my favourite way of bonding with the family. You just have to plan carefully, so that you don't get caught into inconveniences such as road congestions, overcrowded spaces or closed restaurants etc. I love camping too, so when I heard that Federer did both at the same time, I knew what he is up to. Besides, I really really doubt that it was only him, Mirka and the kids. Just too much going on to do it alone at this point of his career.

My back can not take more than about an hour. Honestly very dreadful to think about driving long distances. I do like camping, but I don't think my camping and Fed are the same.

But you did say he was in a RV so that is a different kind of road trip.

that wasn't my point. if he was most likely going ot be okay by friday, i would assume he would be more than likely okay for laver cup. it was clearly a horribly timed incident where the back/neck were not okay but something that wouldn't have lasted more than a few days

The FH misses at important points were pretty much the same I saw in the Wimb19 final. I am not sure Fed would have been able to play better regardless of the back issue. There are just way too many off days coming from Fed since IW18.

oh i see what you are saying in teh sense that some of those wild misses were brain farts, maybe? who knows whats done is done, but i think im just strictly speaking in a physical sense though.

I don’t think anyone who beat Fed in a slam has won it (excluding Big 2). So good luck to Dimi.

Edit: Cilic, Stan, did win a slam after beating Fed.

Edit: Safin too.

I hope Fed reviews 2019 in a positive way. I think he has got a pretty good feel for how much he can handle now that he played a full calendar. I still see a Fed who can do quite some more. Its just his Serve/FH at important moments. If he can control that, Fed has a shot. Of course, there is always the "injury" aspect of things. I hope Fed learned how to manage/not over do the matches a little better to avoid those injuries.

There is a lot “hope” mentioned in my post. I am counting on that because Fed is a smart man.

He being the eternal optimist will look back and hope to make Australia and Wimbledon count again...As long as he's healthy, happy and playing well, I see no reason why he won't be a part of the conversation for those two grandslams and multiple other big tournaments....Keep your chin up fellow fans...The slam record shouldn't define us...We're better fans than that....That being said its still not over yet...So we will get there when it happens..:)

Fedfans, I know the reality is that it's 20-19, and that the chance of the slam record falling is higher than ever.

But there is always opportunities in adversity.

For instance, I think Fedr is still playing great (not much different from his level since 2014), and if Fedr wins any of AO20, RG20(based on RG19, I think Fedr still has a chance), or WB20, he'll make history as the oldest slam winner, and it'll likely stay an unbreakable record.

Also, Nadl winning USO19 is a fact, but the silver lining is that he'll inadvertently protect Fedr's #1-weeks record by taking over #1 after WTF19 at the latest. This makes Djokr ~30 weeks shy. Sure, it's possible Djokr can still break it. But what was almost a certainty after WB19 is suddenly not so certain anymore. And who's to say Fedr and Medv won't take over #1 since they both have little points to defend in AO, while Djokodal defends a ton (2000 & 1200).

Lastly, we must not miss the forest for the trees: Fedr was in great form for most matches of 2019.

I've always maintained that Djokr hasn't really been in his Ultron form much since WB18, even though he's won 4 slams. Look where he is now besides from a few great matches. May Djokr have a speedy recovery, but even when not injured, he's been up-and-down.

Nadl had the easiest of the Big3 draw at USO19, and even with a W/O and gifts from Diego/Matteo, he barely scraped by an exhausted Medv. And he'll only get older come 2020 (surprisingly, 2019 convinced me that Fedr's level will stay high even in 2020-2021). If Medv stays a threat going forward (which he should), nothing is a given for Fedalovic. But I like Fedr's chances against Medv. ;)

There's still plenty of tennis left still in 2019, but 2020 is worth looking forward to! And I'm much more confident of Fedr going into 2020 than I was going into 2019. :D

It might be easier for me since I like Rafa and don't care too much for this mythical "Goat" race, but tonight did change quite a few things.

While it won't effect how I view Fed, it was nice having a few things to hang your hat on. These are slipping, and fast.

With Rafa almost guaranteed to catch if not surpass Fed, how do you guys feel about it?

I actually think Rafa taking number one is a good thing as it holds off the weeks at number one from Djoker. Hopefully this happens.

A lot has changed in a month.

Fedr will always be GOAT for me. This is largely due to Fedr having the most adversity from 'his' younger gens compared to Djokodal (2 GOAT-lvl players chasing vs. zero). I mean, forget Djokodal, even Fedr owns 'their' younger gens. Also, Fedr had to 'adjust' to conditions, while Djokodal largely had 'conditions' adjusted to them (omg, so many slow courts ).

But, if I had to choose, then I favor Nadl more to get the slam record bc he has a beast FH and plays more exciting tennis than Djokr. Not only that, 12+ RG is ridic dominance and definitely has a lot of weight to me.

As to why I think Fedr GOAT. Well, there's a lot that makes Fedr so much more interesting to me. And he's the only sports person that I care about this much, and he's a few years younger than me! I suppose I can always try, but I can't even truly tell you why I'm such a big fan of his, and it surprises me that it is so. A few examples would be; his aggressive play, his artistic play, his fair play, I enjoy listening to his interviews, his interactions with fans, etc., etc. He's as close to the perfect sportsman as anyone can possibly get for me. Which is why he's my GOAT. Many likely feels the same bc even other sports people act like fangirls when they meet him at his last Laureus appearance (and other places).

Yep to this. He will always be what I call the greatest tennis player simply because of everything that goes with it. That being said, if we are going to have a mythical "GOAT" debate, I can understand why the slam race is the be all end all. I also do think he will be the future ambassador of the sport like Laver has been. So in many ways, even if he does not go down as this goat in public opinion, he will still be recognized as THE guy. Plus, if Rafa ends up with 21 or 22 slams, I dont think it will be like a massive difference. Now 23 or more (assuming Fed does not add to his tally), that might kind of separate Rafa from Fed.

All of this being said... i will sing a different song if Djoker catches Fed...

Funny i actually think novak has a more complete resume than Nadal if we are looking at overall consistency, long term dominating of the sport, weeks at no.1, actually winning year end championships and i already didnt care for nadal but after the **** he pulled during the final im completely over him.

Lol, rest assured my friend. What is lost in this cyclone of a USO19 is that Nadl has cleared Djokr by 3 now. Many, and I mean many, thought that Djokr would win it pre-tourney AND during the tourney. Instead of 20-18-17, it's now 20-19-16, so Djokr needs to win 4 just to pass Nadl instead of 2. It's one slam, but it just made it very hard for Djoker to catch 20 now bc Rafa will be even motivated than before to catch 20 himself as it is finally, truly within reach. So, not only does Djokr have to win one more by not winning this one, 20 may not be the mark that Djokr needs to catch, but 21 or 22. By extension, THAT was the main reason WB19 hurts so bad, not just the 2 CPs.

But what happened, happened, no?

And it's ironic that Nadl is the one we have to thank for saving the #1-weeks record. As for the slam record, I still think Fedr could keep it by winning 1-2 more slams as my originally predicted Fedr#22.

Things happen out of our control, but there are always positives to take. Sure, Fedr shutting down the slam race would be ideal for us Fedfans. But... if he somehow still holds it by the end, the story would be so much more compelling by doing it at such an old age under such circumstances. Sports are unpredictable. And that's why they're so great!

Yeah, Nadl's many cheating tactics has always been the stopper for me from becoming his fan. I just like his 'actual' game more, if i had to choose between Nadl or Djokr.

They both do nothing for me but i always used to say i prefer Djokovic (lol used to be a semi fan at one point) because i still maintain djokerer matches are the best of the big 4.

Im sorry for anyone who here is both a nadal fan and fed fan but i am amazed how many people continue to rile up and blame fed fand for everything because simply pointing out what nadal did during the final was complete bull ****
