Great interview with Fed, seems very relaxed and looking forward to LC. Says he's still feeling the back a little bit, which surprised him since he thought it would be a one/two day thing. But not worried for the weekend/being able to play.
‘Still feeling the back a little bit’ since there’s always a bit more than what roger is prepared to let out to the media, safe to say the back was a lot more serious than we knew. In a way it might have been a good thing he lost to Dimi, otherwise we might not see him again for the rest of the year!

liar liar pants on fire. he is really not looking forward to rafa taking his slam record away from him
Okayyy, so, lets works on the logistics of that statement.

Neil Armstrong was the "first" human to land on the moon. There has been a handful who stepped on the moon after that, right? (even Aldrin who was in the same mission as Armstrong). But Armstrong holds that special place for showing/helping with the belief that its humanly possible to achieve that.

On the same lines, Fed is the "first" man to reach 20 slams in the Open Era and showed the other men that its possible to achieve that. No doubt it will be repeated in a year or in 4 years or in 50 years. In the same way, Laver showed that CYGS is possible by being the "first" to do it and there may be another man that does the same. Fed/Laver will always be remembered for being that "first" and showing its possible.

Fed is right, you can't take away the fact that he showed the way regarding the slam count. Should he be worried? I don't think a man who is making a fortune even if not winning slams anymore and who will be busy with a ton of tennis related and non-tennis related stuff post-retirement is all that worried. Had he retired from tennis in 2016 would he be worried the Nadal and Djoko passes him?? Again, I don't think so.

I'll admit Fed would be worried if Thiem makes it to 20 slams, but not Djokdal. Wait, Fedalovic will be equally worried.

I want roger and rafa to end up with exactly 20 each. and novak to end up with 19 slams. and they retire. that would be pure paradise.

Agreed.

Although my fav scenario is Fedalovic final slam count 21-20-19 :sneaky:
i'm greedy 22>19>16. yes i said it, let roger get 2 and the rest can stay as is, or at the very least i need a 2 slam gap between him and the second person, but would like 3. for fun, i wouldn't mind 22>19=19 so djokodal fans debate til the cows come home who is no.2 and leave roger alone

Has it taken 13,065 posts for us to realize—at long last—that Roger Federer is the GOAT of GOATs?

Has it taken just this long to enlighten the deniers?!

I think RAFA has proved with more than enough evidence that he is as good and as fun to watch as Roger Federer so they really should be tied. but Novak,, kind of boring bland tennis,, so he would finish just behind.
lol what? i think id rather watch paint dry than rafa take 10 years to serve, and then take another 10 years stalling serve

If not, Tokyo is the end.
He will not retire in Japan or the Olympics, if that was the inference. He's said repeatedly he will say farewell in Basel, 'where it all started for me as a ball boy." He said this again to the Basler Zeitung during his clay training block in April.

I feel that the remaining tournaments of the year are absolutely useless. The season should end with the USO.

Roger to play exhibitions in my country, Argentina, and Colombia, Mexico and Chile. The same week as David Cup. Against Del Potro in Argentina and Zverev in the rest. Couldn’t be happier!

Not cheap though, $100 for the worst seats, $250 for the best. Also a VIP package which includes even better seats and a dinner with him. Price unknown.
This is one of the reasons why Fedr is so excited to go back to South America this fall:

Why doesn’t Laver Cup have team uniforms like Ryder Cup does? I mean it’s not like pro golfers don’t have clothing contracts yet somehow they figure it out. You’d think for 3 days the players could all wear the same stuff.

Steve Tignor says it best;

Can Laver Cup thrive after Federer retires? He’ll surely stay involved with the event, and tennis should try to make him an integral part of the sport as a whole. Because if there’s one thing that everyone in tennis can agree on, it’s Roger Federer.

Happy to report to you that I managed to get the best section in the stadium for ATP Cup Switzerland vs Great Britain, for AUD200 each!!! A session with Roger starts from $100, guess how much for Djoker? From $30!!! When you think about those people who claimed Djoker is going to pass Roger in no time in terms of marketability after that Wimby final, you have to laugh so hard! I remember arguing with a few of them it’s not gonna happen. I’m very happy I’m going to see Roger for three single and three double matches!
