Match was very much like their match at the ATP Finals last year. The AD scoring system made it seem relatively close, but Zverev was never threatened at all. Federer’s serve had nothing on it at all and it’s a testament to Federer’s craft and talent that he was able to win a set via tiebreaker.

On top of that, what has Zverev done all year??? Nothing at all. Zevrev had the upper hand being fresh into this match by having done nothing all year. Same thing happened in the Dimitrov match. While Fed is busy adding more mileage at 38 towards the end of the year. 2019 is all but over for Fed.

Hopefully, Fed gets some good rest for 2020.

I give the win to Fed. He gave Zverev the "pep" talk that saved his year. Win added to Fed column. :p

Probably the most ret@rded violation I've ever seen.
That was such a LULZ penalty, especially docking a point for it (yes, 2nd violation, but does it even warrant a warning?). I mean, we have guys like Djokr throwing his racket and denting the back fence-cushion with no pentalty. Then there was Medv and Z and many others chucking racquets with no pentalties, yet he docks a point from Fedr for barely lobbing a ball straight up (not into the crowd) into the air? It was not anywhere close to a full on swing. Was it any different than slamming a ball into the court surface after being broken out of frustration?
Ridiculous!

I'm just imagining how Djoker would've reacted if he was in Feds place lol

Exactly what I thought while watching the match...It's hard to dislodge Zverev when he's serving like this....But was great to see Federer getting the second set...Testament to the fire still burning bright in the young man's heart....Hope he gets his season back on track in Basel....Been very underwhelming after a superb summer on clay and grass..Heard this is the first time after 2013 where he's not gotten to a SF for three consecutive tournaments.......With respect to the code violation, felt it was a tad harsh...But rules are rules even for Federer.....

Apparently it was Stuart Fraser.

According to one BTL Twitter commentator the response meant "Federer has ruined his legacy". Not an overreaction at all.
It had to be a British reporter because they really are the worst. Not surprised it's Stuart.

I don't think anyone ever said Fed was perfect. I love when people point things out like this and try to make it a big deal. It happens so rare and it is never an actual bad thing. The point is other players have a consistent record of having more incidents and issues.

Shows just how great Fed really is off court as well.

Another title in London would be a huge confidence boost for him.He needs a big run there after years with strange losses.
True. Fed just can’t catch a break from the bad luck at the WTF since 2012. Kind of similar to his bad luck at the USO. Makes me wonder if it’s just an end of season hang over after a big Wimb run or if it’s because of the consistent slowing down of the playing conditions.
