Federer News

Dunno. Maybe the atmosphere, maybe he couldn't give it a bit more for the fans bc he was hampered down 1-3 in the 3rd (2-3 DFs in that game to go down 2 breaks). Maybe it was simply special bc that is A LOT of people giving it an unprecedented atmosphere (slams center courts' max is only 15,000+). If the below vid still works, check it out. The fans absolute loved it, everyone did really, and both Fedr and Z gave great speeches afterwards too.

It was a night to celebrate tennis.

42,000+ in attendance.
Insane.

What is this feeling? This feeling of liking Zverev now? It is a strange feeling, like almost like I feel positivity towards Zverev. What has Fed done to me?

I find Z likeable off-court, more often than not. It's his on-court intensity and reactions that rubs a bit wrong at times (the intensity is not a bad thing in general, bc it means he cares). Fedr has supported Z and has warmed up to him since the beginning, well before Team8 signed him this year. Fedr simply sees him differently than TTW.

The atmosphere at the match tonight seems kind of meh. Also it doesn’t look like the stands are full. Odd as I would imagine they wouldn’t pick a venue they didn’t think they could sell out.

i think there are a few empty seats but fo rthe most part it looked okay. yeah the atmosphere didn't really come through in the tv, but it seemed like everyone was having fun and we got plenty of dorky moments which i enjoyed.

lol that was hilarious, you can tell they really let lose in this one because it was the last one. My favorite part was when roger hit a nice point, and sascha threw the racket at him or when sascha put flowers in his hair but one of them got stuck and he couldn't get it out.

i do feel bad because sascha looked so tired, idt he was prepared for all this, although i'm sure he doesn't regret it. spending quality time like this with your idol has to be an amazing experience and who else can say they played in front of 42000 fans or played on the equator or whatnot.

I do wish this tour could have included more players though, his gillette tour was a lot of fun and felt more relaxing. this was certainly far more ambitious and you only have one person to play against.
i truly dont get how roger has so much energy though.

I won't be too surprised if he will play longer than Ken Rosewall.:)
He will be in the Connors USO SF territory in 2020 already. Think he can even do better than SF at AO and Wimbledon.

Still it's really difficult to imagine him making Semis of the AO at 42 like Kenny. For one in Ken's time the AO was a joke compared to now with the meagre field and all.

But it's great news that he repeatedly and very convincingly says that retirement isn't in sight. These exhos, before they started, did feel like the beginning of the end. Not anymore.

Federer will make more semis, and I can see him reaching another final, as there are still years ahead. But it has only truly occurred to me how big a missed opportunity Wimbledon was this year. If he won, jt would have given him a boost, and he might world number 1 now. Djokovic is a permanent torment for Roger at Wimbledon, I hate it.

Talking about the USO, I think he might have an one last good run there, maybe even better than Connors's 1991.
Ken reached the WB F at 40 and I believe it won't be impossible for Fed to do the same.I think Fed really wants to win one more title at Wimby; 2019 can't just be his last final there after all that happened.

The Today Show, Fedr interview, after South American Tour.

You'll never see a more genuine crush than the one Savannah has. Fed has Mirka of course, but it must be tough when the vibe is as sexually charged as this one. It's not like she's just a regular everyday fan at the stadium. It's Savannah. She's past her prime like Fed, but she's still got it going on for her age. Be strong Fed. Don't do what I'd do.

Fed may be far past his athletic prime, but there's no way he's past his prime in terms of looks. He looks a billion times better now than when he was a teen or in his early 20's. He was just an average looking teen at 18. Men sometimes look much better at 40 than at 20.

LOL at the comments telling him he needs to rest. :-D

Fitting that Tony Godsick is in the center of this photo op. He doesn’t get enough credit for Roger’s huge off court financial success. I remember when people freaked out over he and Roger leaving IMG. I don’t think Roger would be anywhere close to where he is today from a brand standpoint if he had stayed with IMG.

Fed has never looked better in my opinion. Very sophisticated looking these days.

Great viewing, thanks for posting. When you watch this and realize he's 38 years old, it boggles the mind!
The talent is still there obviously, and will be for another 5+ years. Unfortunately, his consistency is what is hurting him as he ages.

But if he can lump things together for 2 weeks... or get through the first week and put 3 good matches together. Oh man that would be awesome.
