Yeah, he seems to struggle at times his first go around, but I actually think the US was his second time playing him, and I think he struggled in that match as well.
I just looked up the first match. 4-6 in the first but then pretty smooth sailing at Brisbane. He probably didn't give it a second thought and figured on doing the same thing 3 years later. I'll wager he'll be way more prepared this time.

You mean Fed and Millman’s first match in Brisbane 15? No no it was no where near ‘smooth sailing’. Millman is a Brisbane local and he played out of his skin that night. I was there in the stadium watching my first ever Fed match live and he was a set and a break down, almost lost the match. Someone yelled out ‘wake up Federer!’ And he did more than half way through in set 2 and managed to turn it around. If I remember correctly he was a bp from going down a break in set 3 too. It almost killed me, that match

I remember writing down a lot of the details of this match on Fed’s own forum on his website and ofc it was gone all of sudden one day with nothing left :cry::cry:

Looks like Uniqlo will now allow Fed to have the RF logo returned to him. A Uniqlo spokesman said, “Uniqlo currently has no plans to use the initials.”

Roger said, “To be quite honest, I just feel like we have some awful tennis-looking outfits sometimes.
They’ve just gone too far in the wrong direction. They want to make it look too much like a modern tennis shirt that is completely wrong, in terms of designs.

Like a truck drove over it — or they’re just going to come up with funky graphics, which I think in a sport of tennis, that has such a rich history…you know, the tennis polo is very iconic. I feel like if we work on that, to redesign that, which looks nice and crisp and new and fresh, that’s really important to me.”

A tweak, eh?

Do you believe that "RF" will become "RG"?!

As in... "Roger Goaterer"?

A new brand for a new (old) reality.

That's a good example of never judging a match by the score!

I think effect is two-fold. One, grass quality is better & lasts longer & two, cooler temperature means less spin & zipping through. Other experts can weigh in.
You’re right on both counts. Last summer was so hot, by the first Friday the courts were already worn out. If it stays this wet and cool like it seems it will, Rafito can book an early flight home and prepare for Montreal.

So, the black and white Vapors from RG with the RF logo on them mean that Nike is being licenced to use it, I presume.

If that is the case, he will still use it for his foundation and all the business that he intends to conduct in the future. Also, the reports from Uniqlo not wanting to use it (for now, I assume) give an answer to the question whether they were waiting for it to start new projects with him. If it is off the table for them, then whatever is coming will not be postponed because of that issue. Pleased to hear that, as I quite like the current direction, and with more colours it can be quite the memorable style for him going forward.

Honestly, I am of the opinion that it is one of the many reasons that Federer sucked it up and played the vile terre battue this year.

"RG" is going to have a fight on their hands now the likes of which they'd never anticipated.

Roger GOATerer will have his revenge. And the French Tennis Federation will regret its many transgressions.

I don't know how his shoe deal works with Nike now (or if it is even official?), but my guess is Fed is the one allowing the RF to be used on his own shoe, as they don't sell those online.

If he owns the logo, he licences them to use it. Maybe it is for his personal shoes only and there is no agreement on selling shoes with his logo. Seeing how Nike massively dropped the ball on their efforts to match his shoes with his outfits, I wonder whether he is not better off going elsewhere. In any event, he is too high profile to allow them to have such free advertising, so either he has some very limited shoe contract (less money but no rights to sell anything as his line for Nike) or he is shortly going elsewhere. The relationship really got staled after his switch to Uniqlo, so he might be better off with another shoe sponsor. Personally I would like to see him in either Adidas, Asics or Yonex.

Nah, too late in the game to switch shoes, especially to ugly ones like Asics or Yonex.

How sweet would it be if he pulled a Jordan and created his own shoe.

Not talking the Jordan-Federer-Nike collaboration.

The kind of money he has at his disposal would make the investment well worth it.

Any of these companies can produce him a shoe that is exactly moulded to his foot with everything he needs, and there is never "too late" especially when it isn't clear how long he is still going to be playing. I doubt it that he will do any sort of advertising for free, let alone if his career has 2-3 more years left (let's hope that that is the case). I don't find either shoe lines "ugly" (Asics are doing a very good job with Djokovic's line, and Yonex with Stan's), but the problem might be that Asics already locked one of the big three, and Yonex might not be willing to spend a lot on him. Anyway, until there is more info that is a pointless conversation. For now he is with Nike for shoes.

On second though, yes to Adidas. Take Djokers spot as the top dog and pist him off... I like it. :p
