Definitely agree with that partSomeone here is pathological, it's not me nor do I hate the great Maestro Federer at all. Some of you take this way too seriously.

A RG third or 4th round loss, even a 2nd round loss wont hurt his confidence too much, but a QF or SF wil boost his confidence. Hope he enters at least 2 warm ups and if he does well drops the other and does well at RG.Marc Rosset, former top 10 player from Switzerland, weighed in on Roger's clay prep:
“To Win Wimbledon, Roger Federer Will Have to…”: Olympic Gold Medalist Reveals the Importance of Clay Season
The dream-win for Roger Federer this year would be Wimbledon. He had set his mind to return to London last year, but a second knee surgery had halted his plan then. Now, he is back on the Tour after 13 months, but that will not be enough to win the Championships. It begs the question – What does the Swiss maestro need to do to win at Wimbledon? The 1992 Olympic Gold medalist and retired Swiss professional, Marc Rosset, has the answer.
Rosset explained how playing on clay would help his case on the grass.
“This will allow him to do a little land work, to get a bit of a physical fund and especially since Wimbledon is hardly won by serving-volley, it is won from the baseline. He definitely saw that some physical fitness was lacking when he played Doha. The clay will get him in shape for a stab at Wimbledon."
Furthermore, the 50-year-old Swiss highlighted that in 2018, Federer missed the clay-court season and eventually lost to Kevin Anderson. Thus, the 8-time Wimbledon champion needs to play Top 10 players before stepping on the grass.
“So if he also wants to win Wimbledon, he will necessarily have to beat Djokovic, Nadal or other players who are in the top 10,” Rosset explained. “And to meet them, he will have to play these players in the Masters 1000 on clay or at Roland Garros.”
Considering the uncertainty over his knee, Federer can also test himself more on the clay. Let us see what he plans ahead of Wimbledon.
I think he'll play Madrid, Rome and RG.... then onto the grass. I see he's still practicing on HC in Dubai though, not clay.A RG third or 4th round loss, even a 2nd round loss wont hurt his confidence too much, but a QF or SF wil boost his confidence. That's a heavy loadI think he'll play Madrid, Rome and RG.... then onto the grass. I see he's still practicing on HC in Dubai though, not clay.
Fed explained in 2019 how playing on clay helped him "groove" his groundstrokes and gave him confidence heading into grass season. Playing on clay will give him both desperately needed match play as well as what Roger described with the "grooving" of his baseline game. Also this clay thing, he skipped it in 2017 and won Wimbledon so its really a moot point
Don't see how missing clay helps against a servebot on grass
He likes the heat for physical conditioning and his workouts with Paganini are more integrated with on-court stuff. (Unlike many others Roger has mentioned before that while he does his weight room work, he isn't a gym rat)I think he'll play Madrid, Rome and RG.... then onto the grass. I see he's still practicing on HC in Dubai though, not clay.
Fed practicing on the clay in Dubai, photo with a fan from yesterday. Fed has been exclusively hitting on clay since he returned to Dubai from Doha.
Podcast on Blick.ch with Severin yesterday, he said Roger has been practicing on clay since "two days back from Doha." I believe with the live podcasts you either watch them live or you don't see them, but you can try:Is there a source for this? Can't find anything on twitter or google (hope I'm not committing sacrilege by asking )
i see federer has managed to find a clay practise partner who clearly looks and plays almost exactly like nadal..uh umm wot?.Fed practicing on the clay in Dubai, photo with a fan from yesterday. Fed has been exclusively hitting on clay since he returned to Dubai from Doha.

LMAOAs unlikely as it seems, I feel that Federer may win RG this year...
Some sources are claiming it. There’s a one week gap between Geneva and Madrid and the competition is softer in Geneva. Good move.According to the informations of French site, he is officialy registered for the Geneva open. But it's not sure he will play it.

And Fed gains a week since they pushed back the start of the FO. He desperately needs some match play before grass season.I did have a feeling Fed would pick up Geneva. Big gap from Madrid to RG.
Federer has just confirmed that he will play Geneva and Roland Garros. So no Madrid then...hopefully he isn’t too undercooked for London
With limited match play, Fed probably won't go far at the FO. Possibly he can then add Stuttgart to Halle and Wimbledon.Surprised with the decision.
Would be epicFed looks poised to win RG. You heard it right here, folks.

This omits the number of meetings. For clarity:Wins over Dan Evans in 2021
Federer: 1
Djokovic: 0
Roger Federer 'lagging behind' with fitness, but 'big titles' still the aim, says Severin Luthi - Eurosport
Roger Federer’s long-time coach Severin Luthi says the 20-time Grand Slam champion is still "lagging behind" with his fitness as he looks to return to his peakwww.eurosport.com
I personally think Team Fred is holding out hope that they'll move Wimbledon to coincide with his 40th.I wonder if this is a way to keep the door slightly open to skip the clay completely and focus on the grass, citing the lack of fitness and needing more weeks to train.
It's exactly what I thought too. He was clearly not match fit in Doha, but he's had 6 additional weeks to train. I found it curious there's been only one photo of him training in Switzerland since Doha, usually Twitter has dozens of pics of him, taken by fans at his training facility. It's my opinion now he may not even play clay, as you suggest.I wonder if this is a way to keep the door slightly open to skip the clay completely and focus on the grass, citing the lack of fitness and needing more weeks to train.

If Fed thinks he can make any impact on grass after having played 2 matches in 2021, he's not thinking straight. I think retirement is much closer than I thought.
He explained this in 2019. Clay "grooves" his groundstrokes, to use his expression. Lendl admitted after skipping the FO to prepare for Wimbledon that it always compromised both his fitness and his feel for the ball on his groundstrokes. And in Roger's case this year, he is in desperate need of actual match play, regardless of surface.I'm still surprised Fed's playing at the French despite how it would prepare him for Wimby.
I hear that.LOL - Maybe. It's clear the goal for him is Wimbledon. He just doesn't want to say it this far out that he isn't play clay, because he was getting attacked in the past for skipping clay completely for the grass, this way, it's easy to just say he was lacking fitness.
I hear that.
The wildest thing about it all is what we don't know. Which is just incredible for someone of that stature.
I wouldn't be stunned to learn that he's accepted a position promoting soccer team FC Basel... and/or elevating the Swiss national team, courtesy of a collaboration between Uniqlo and On.
lol, seriously, when you think about this individual's commitments at this point... tennis is really fairly back burner.
No training pics at all since the week after Doha, but he did a photo shoot for Uniglo last week.I am sure more and more will be revealed as to what Federer has been up to these past few months, and something tells me, it isn't just tennis sessions.

Maybe he plays Geneva to support a local tournament in these tough times
At 30 million a year, you gotta jump through some hoops. The Uniqlo thing seems to be more consuming than the tennis ...
