Do we still care about the ol Djok Fed argument anyway? Why are we living back in 2016. At the rate Djokovic was going he would’ve ruled for the next several years at least. But the thing about the future is . . . You can’t predict it.

But I’m certainly not going to look up old arguments about it. Who does that? I’m certainly not going to jump on some moran noob’s bumped thread and sit with my mouth open, while I gawk at the shock of it all.

Maybe I should go back and research old arguments about Sampras and Agassi and get some other antisocial weirdos to get on my little bandwagon and say “Oh yeah, Oh YEAH?! Look how further Agassi went than Sampras!” Then I would be satisfied and could go off to my little POS 1/2 bedroom garage-efficiency apt on my dead end street and hump my worn out blow up doll while I gloat over all the Agassi naysayers.

What are you going on about? The point is so many people like you try to take current variables as constants. Then when things inevitably go another way, it's always the same old response that you gave ("no one could have predicted that"). All the countless variables leading up to the period in which Djokovic was dominating were unpredictable, so why assume you can predict the future from that point? Maybe you people should start assuming unpredictable things will happen. Good players will get injured. Good and not-so-great will have momentary surges of greatness. Great players in a drought will find their way out.

I don’t remember how many times Fed beat Djokovic in GSs for 2015 and 2016, but no one could’ve predicted what would happen later in 2017 (Djokovic self-destructing and Fed getting better).

Just let me know the brand of Nole dolls you use, and I'll try out the Fed model.

Its pretty obvious that Djokovic let Fed have Dubai and Cincinnati last year. I doubt the tournament organizers mentioned anything to Federer, but I would guess they might have asked Djokovic not to beat Fed as quickly as he could to allow for a good final. Then Djokovic gave it to Fed out of respect and to not exert himself too much before the GSs. Of course we know that Djokovic rolled over Fed in the GSs fairly easily. Djok has a lot of respect for Fed and lets him win some instead of just beating him in straight sets. I would bet there was also a discussion with Djok's camp at some point before the Wimbledon and USO final to allow Fed to be close and have a good competitive match.

Before AO 2017, I was expecting it to be another Murrovic final and another year with them dominating the masters and slams. So I don't begrudge anyone who didn't see Federer rising from the ashes and reaching the pinnacle of the sport again - I'm just happy he did and glad to witness it in all its glory.
