What's interesting is that Fed has lost more finals at Wimbledon than at both HC slams combined and that's probably because his base level game at Wimbledon allowed him to reach the finals more often there, even when he was not at his best, unlike in the AO and the USO when he rather lost before the finals :D

Thats because he faced a peak djokovic. He should have won all 3 if not for djoker provided that 2019 was on his racket.

No, no, no. Don't backtrack now. We all remember you turning on him the other day with that thread you made. Don't try hopping back on the bandwagon now. Someone get this guy a Lacoste shirt.

Actually, the stat that matters isn't Nole's slam record with previous-generation Federer, but Nole's h2h with a contemporary: 1-4 vs Stan Wawrinka at the slams since 2014, including 0-2 in finals and 0-2 at the US Open. Those losses have surely made a significant impact on the slam race, huh?

And then how competitive his losses were. Overall. performance wise in Slams he is the best.
Last slam final was a 5 set loss with 2 match points at age 38 holding 20 slams and playing someone with mid teens slams.

Compare with the man he lost to at wb in 2019, who lost in straight sets to someone on 0 slams when also going for 21

It’s also crazy how the big 3 have 16 slams combined at all slams but the USO.
That is 16 years of winning them slams insane number.
It’s also mental how Fed had 5 USO in 08 and still has 5. It’s definitely the hardest slam to dominate

H2H it's just one stat and it cannot overshadow the achievements, especially in this case when the slam H2H sits virtually in 3 40-15s that Federer couldn't convert, that's how tiny the difference is.It's an arbitrary criterion, you choose a stat that suits your favorite player and you proclaim that it's the one stat that matters. It's not how it works.

I don't want to make this one comparison a knock on Djokovic. USO is not his best Slam and that CYGS pressure was huge. Plus we don't know how he'll do in the future. Nonetheless, the point about Roger being better across all his Slam final runs stands.

It's a big deal that Fed is the only one of the big three to have won 5+ slams at 3/4 majors. It's way too late for Nadal to ever achieve this (he's won 5+ majors at only one slam), and the chances of Novak winning two additional USO's is slim to none.

Impressive from Fed but you switch things like these anyway you want.
Djokovic has more HC slams and Clay Slams than Fed.
Nadal/Djokovic are unbeaten in there best slams in finals.

Not taking anything away from Fed it shows how all rounded he is but if Djokovic gets a 3rd RG and say 4th USO next year his be more impressive

Yes Stan the man stopped novak in those 4 slams. The 2 finals would have been sure wins. 2014 AO win isnt certain by novak. He would be favorite in final though.
2019 USO Djokovic is injured.

Time to give up the 'Fed has a better record than Rafa or Novak in...' threads. Fed is toast. He is one of the greatest players ever, but not the absolute greatest anymore. It's time to accept that and move on.

Rog raised the bar across tennis. Nadal has done the same on clay, but until someone does more than creep past his records they haven’t taken away his goat status. Until they do so the way Rog did with Sampras I only have them as equal with Sampras (at best).

It is much easier to equal a record than it is to forge ahead.

Lot of choking there.

Should have won AO 2005, AO 2013 SF (obvious loss in Final) could have won 2012 AO SF (obvious loss in Final)
Should have won USO 2010 (probable loss in Final, USO 2011, even with bad back should have made USO 2017 SF and if he was healthy he'd beat Nadal and win it all, as it was probably didn't want the loss. 2019 USO I still don't know what the hell happened in the Dimitrov match but yeah he should have beat him and Medvedev then who knows.

Other than USO 2011 and 2017, it's good that he failed to reach the final in those USO runs.
Regarding AO 2005 well, you win some, you lose some :D
