Federer thinks he can win the Roland Garros

I don't think he has barely a wing and prayer personally but I will say the exact same thing I said for Murray. You would expect a champion of Federer's stature who is still ranked 3rd in the world to think he has a chance. Most of us see otherwise, but I would be disappointed if Federer himself saw things that way, and very surprised as well. He should be thinking he has a real shot, whether he really does or not is immaterial.

^^^^ Agree with @mattosgrant - I'm sure Fed knows things may have to break right for him and that he has to play his absolute best. But you don't win 17 majors and just show up to grab a check and some towels. Ok, he does like towels...

Even today if he avoids 2 players called Djokovic and Nadal he can win.

He also needs to avoid power hitters like Berdych, Tsonga, Monfils, Raonic, Wawrinka and a whole list of other players.

He can definitely reach the quarters though.

Just look at the players who have defeated him over the past few years. Gulbis, Tsonga, Djokovic, Wawa.... All players that can hit through him on Clay, and can take much needed time away. They exploit his movement to the forehand side a lot. Roger cannot defend like he used to, from that side.

Too many dangerous players out there. Probably a QF appearance IMO, or maybe even an earlier exit.

He has the mindset of a Champion though, so who am I to say anything?...

Roger believes he can win another FO this year. It's true that if Wawrinka has won last year, it is difficult not to agree that Federer can do it this year. I believe it depends a lot if Nadal and Djokovic play both in the other part of the draw. I can see Federer upset one of them, not both in Paris

Sure. Give anyone a favourable draw, and of course they can win.

Especially when you're talking about an all-time great.

I'm wondering how he's going to do with relatively little match play in 2016. Hopefully he gets a good draw.
