That‘s not the point. His rivals are probably still the top two players in the game especially in Bestof5 tournaments. I think Federer is playing at this point only to fulfill his endorsement contracts where he has to be an active player. His movement and maybe even motivation seems to have been compromised so much after his knee surgeries at his advanced age that it is hard to imagine that he has delusions of winning any big tournament anymore.

Think about it. He has a top 10 tennis player ranking only because of the COVID rules as he has more losses than wins in more than a year. But, I can’t imagine there are ten guys who sell more shoes than he does. So, he is more of a successful shoe salesman in 2021 than he is a tennis player.
