It's certainly possible, he was an ace away from a slam this year but next year he doesn't only have to navigate Djoker & Rafa, there is a good chance of an increased threat from Thiem, Tsitsipas, Medvedev and Zverev too. Anything from the quarter finals onwards next year should be pretty tough - the younger guys mentioned are less consistent throughout the year than the big three though.

There are no warranties past 35 for anyone, much less past 38.

The body does eventually break down, the return of serve gets harder, the recuperation slower; etc...

Look how Tsitsipas beat him with pace 3 days ago: he was left 1 meter from the ball on many occasions.

And realize if he doesn't win AO, by the time W comes he will be 1 month shy of 39.

Why not take it day by day. He should have a good chance in Australia, especially with his friend changing the surface to help him, let's see how things develop from there.

Definitely, look what he did against Stefanos at AO19 for example, and Wimbledon, straight choked in two of his slam exits.

The three tiebreaks and the famous 40-15 situation tells the tale of a broken man. No more slams for him.

That surface suits Novak very well so it's not like Fed receives any help. It's not like the AO will have a grass surface like in Halle or something.

Surfaces, scheduling, roofs opening and closing -all will be "creatively" manipulated -once again-to try and get one last slam for dear old Roger.
