If your prediction was that he will win A slam in 2017 and he won two, then your prediction is in a way just as wrong as if Fed had won 0 in 2017.

It's certainly possible, he was an ace away from a slam this year but next year he doesn't only have to navigate Djoker & Rafa, there is a good chance of an increased threat from Thiem, Tsitsipas, Medvedev and Zverev too. Anything from the quarter finals onwards next year should be pretty tough - the younger guys mentioned are less consistent throughout the year than the big three though.

Federer winning a slam is not unlikely, people already counted him out since 2013 (myself included) and he came back and won 3 more slams.

The body does eventually break down, the return of serve gets harder, the recuperation slower; etc...

Look how Tsitsipas beat him with pace 3 days ago: he was left 1 meter from the ball on many occasions.

And realize if he doesn't win AO, by the time W comes he will be 1 month shy of 39.
