He's got a mountain to climb to take back the #1 ranking. He's also defending 2k points at the AO.

Yeah it will take at least a year but after AO he can gain ground quickly as he had a terrible spring and summer. Nadal OTOH will have a ton of points to defend.

That's a pretty bold prediction. Being a family man means he now has additional responsibilities. It's not only tennis.Plus he isn't getting any younger. That together might have an impact on his focus even if he stays fine physically(which is never a given).Even in this indoor season we've seen Roger having problems with keeping focus throughout the week.

Do you remember my official thread for FO 2009 where I predicted Federer to win even before a match was played and Rafa was in the draw? :)

When Federer really wants something he will eventually get it. I also predict he will win Olympic Gold in 2012.

You are right that having a family changes ones priorities in life but I think now that the kids have grown up a bit he will be able to train more and focus better. Annacone is also an excellent addition to the team. If Agassi can do it, Federer can as well. Federer has more effortless game than Agassi and also more free points on the serve.

Fed 2011 FTW

Wow. That 2nd set was pretty amazing. Soderling was playing well but Federer was on fire like I have not seen outside of video clips. Maybe just my imagination but the look on Federer's face on that last BP was really something I have not seen before...it was like he sensed he had recaptured something he had lost.

Little bits of his game have been coming back piece by piece since Wimby.

nadal is defending 7k+ points in the first half of the year.

3 clay ms titles
2 grand slams

plus two semifinal showings in IW and Miami and a QF in AO.

thats like around 9k ish points in the first half of the year.

not saying nadal can't do it..but its going to be a pretty interesting first half of the season.

OTOH I think grown up kids might affect his focus more and he might want to spend more and more time with them as there might be times he may have to leave them behind. So when they're around he might not be able to focus a whole lot.Of course this is just an assumption. It might so happen that for the next year atleast Roger dosen't face those problems a whole lot .

another absolutely scorcher of a performance from fed !!!! those BH slices, passing shots and point construction stood out in particular !!

sod played pretty well, but fed was simply better :)

Hasn't CESC come in to say the Soderling played crappy, Fed just had to show up ???

Maybe caught up in the traffic (of nonsensical thoughts.)

hey look, he posted just above you. He never fails to show up with his bucketload of fail :)

How arrogant of Fed to refuse even a set to Soderling despite having qualified comfortably for the SF. Didn't expect this from classy Roger.
