Strange view of arrogance you have.
You earn your places at the top.
Soderling should know that too.

Sod crumbled mentally when he had his chances, in the end he almost looked happy to lose

hey look, he posted just above you. He never fails to show up with his bucketload of fail :)
yup, i was rather shocked to find he posted while i was typing. I was actually called just for dessert as i was about the press Submit !

Talk of Serendipity (or whatever).

The movement was back today. Also the volley is coming along but still not great. What I have been impressed with has been the tactical approaches and I think Anacone has something to do with this. He ran Soderling around and did not let him hit big ground strokes with heavy forehands and deep slices. He did the opposite to Murray. He kept him in the center of the court and never got into an angle contest.

Yeah, lets not give Fed any credit.

Sod was serving bombs. He even got his break back and was almost level with Fed in the TB. It was 5-6 in the TB for crying out loud.

It was only in the last game that Sod seemed to give up, in the last couple points it seemed quite obvious.

I am wondering how Murray beat this Soderling (I missed that match due to timezone).

Robin really struggled to get anything past Murray, the court killing any pace he put on the ball, with Andy being such a great defender.

Sod was also dreadful at the net, his movement was poor too. Murray's tactics were spot on.

yeh he did well to get back but when sod had some chances say to get to 15-40 or 30-40 in the 2nd he missed wide with winner attempts when he has the court open- he just cant hit the ball in when it matters. And the LEAVE at 5-6 in the first set tie breaker was hopeless.

Ha Andrew Castle today was saying "lets pleeeeeeease hope Soderling works on his volleying in the off season". Eeeeech. Sad but true.

I liked seeing Fed attempt more net play, clearly he's no Edberg on the Volleys, but just coming to net and making decentish volleys worked well and the drop shot is working too.

i did not get to see a replay so i have no idea what happened, or how close it was. Seemed to me like it was going way out, and I shouted / face-palmed.

Then i was shocked to see it was in. That seemed really lucky for Fed, so i again can't fault Sod.

I didn't see much of the match today, were Sod's volleys equally, erm, avant-garde?

If Federer wins WTF undefeated he gets like 500 extra points (i think) which will be crucial for his efforts to take the No 1 ranking back.

Actually it's 200 points, not 500. There are no "bonus points" for going undefeated, just the points awarded per round robin win. Each round robin win = 200 points.

3 x RR win = 600 points
SF win = 400 points
F win = 500 points

so, undefeated WTF = 1500 points

:)
