I absolutely CANNOT wait for this one, mainly because I'm going to love watching the GOAT destroy the immature and classless (some would say cheating) 19-year-old.

Stock up on popcorn, folks.

Federer beat him in four in their only meeting, which was on grass in Davis Cup a few months ago.

Tomic is getting better all the time, but Federer is Federer.

Federer in four.

That was a fluke. Federer's going to go postal on Tomic after he watches the clip of Tomic cheating. Roger's going to dish out some justice on Sunday.

Federer in three. Going ballistic and prepping his form for a tough quarterfinal/semifinal/final.

Tomic game is really boring slice after slice after slice. Really hope Federer can smash every ball against him and give him a beating that tomic will never forget
Fed in 3

Federer has also declined heavily on grass in the last 2 years and still he beat Tomic on grass pretty convincigly (apart from the 3rd set blip).

Tomic only won around 57% of his service points during their davis cup match. Considering it was on traditional fast grass, that is pretty low. Considering grass is Tomic's best surface and Federer's worst at the moment, it goes to show how big the gap is between the two. On hard, I expect a straight set victory for Federer. No crowd advantage, Federer will be less fatigued and you get a straight set beat down.

How could anyone have a problem with Federer?

He's world best class Rogi. You can't hate him. He's unhateable!
He's always come across as boring to me. As a kid, I admired players who showed emotion (not Hewitt though, I wanted to rip his head off), smashed racquets and stuff, and seeing Federer win time and time again with that same almost Lendl-like face and hearing endless head-in-rear commentators was just so boring! I can't take away the wonderful things he's done to the game but I feel he just doesn't bring the excitement I want.

Also, I have rather bad experiences with Swiss people, but enough about that...

Tomic's shots on this surface bounce at a perfect height for Federer. Tomic plays a bit like Hewitt used to, and Fed loves that style.

Federer is going to take this in 3, and then the sport section in the Australian paper will be worth reading again.

Yea what. Tomic loses to Federer in straight sets? The Australian Sport section will still be talking about the win against dolgo and the unlucky draw that he has to face fed instead of lets say murray.

And now i just laugh at all these tennis nerds raging on about omg his cheater with every single tennis player except the ones they like.

Fed is usually the best at handling the different/quirky type of players, so shouldn't affect him at all the change of paces Tomic puts in, which affects a lot of players, he's also had two very tough five setters en-route so if he is going to win the first set is crucial, i think if he starts quick he'll have a shot but if he gets behind a set it'll be very tough, Roger looked very sharp against Karlovic i don't think there will be too many lapses from Fed. Fed in 3, maybe 4

Federer in 4, if not 3. I don't think Tomic has the game yet to challenge Federer and make him go to a 5th set, let alone beat him.

It's called focus. Sampras had the same thing.

Federer is clearly in poor shape this year. He's got through an easy draw until now, now lets see what he's got.

Ivo is probably one of the hardest early round draws to have and Roger played great so obviously you didn't watch that, a lot sterner test than Lacko or Lorenzi and Giraldo, yes he got a walkover against Beck but i feel that was almost a disadvantage going into a match with Karlovic who gives you no rhythm, he looks in great shape to me, plus the back is fine.

What about when Roger smashed his racquet against Djokovic? Or when he told the umpire I don't give a **** I'll talk when I want to talk? Or told Dork's camp to shutup in the middle of the match lmao.

Fed is going to be up for this match, after the incident with Dolgo there will be added motivation as Fed doesn't like this kind of gamemanship.

He actually does show quite a lot of emotion but not much negative emotion, like Murray shouting at his box or berating himself, Roger rarely gets angry at himself or shows negative emotion, when things get close or on an important point you almost everytime hear Roger shout comeon or allez or some other language reference along those lines whenever he wins a big point, for a lot of the match he does stay pretty poker faced but thats all part of the disguise and not giving anything away to his opponent, which has been a big part of Roger's success over the years. The last thing Federer is is boring

Tomic will trouble Federer enough to send his fans into a mild panic, but Federer himself will have no doubt about the outcome. 4.

Hmm, people seem pretty confident that Fed will blow away the young Aussie but I'm not so sure after what I've seen in the last few days.

Why would Murray be an easier option for him considering that he got straight-setted by him winning only 5 games just a couple of weeks ago in Brisbane??

If Tomic wins, we may finally receive Fed on this board in one of the zillion " how to beat a pusher" threads in tips & instruction.

What Fed breezing through the early rounds with one walkover, played great against Ivo and Tomic struggling hugely through each round managing to squeeze by in the end and having played around 6 hours longer the Roger coming into this match, i think the odds are stacked pretty heavily in Roger's favour atm, Tomic could give Roger problems but that remains to be seen.

I saw the Davis cup match between these two. Except for the one set, it was a convincing win. I don't see an upset. Easy win for Fed.

Aussies will support Tomic, but there will also be enough fans rooting for their perennial favorite.
