I think his matches with Nadal shows that when someone actually challenges him... a rare occurence, Fed can go away.
true. but only nadal seems to have that power over him.

After seeing him tonight, if he escapes this match, there is no way he is winning the U.S Open, even against Roddick, but he is wasting tons of energy in this match!!!
well, he's lucky that davydenko had a five-setter today. it all depends on how long that match goes.

Federer is gonna be dead tired going into the final if he beats Davydenko, he didnt do himself a favor by going 4 sets!!!!

Relax! He's training in Dubai, remember? This is nothing. A day's rest is enough. :D

deuce on blake's serve again...federer looking to run away with the set, but bake a breadstick while he's at it

What's the difference? If he's never won a 5 set match, he's obviously lost a 5 set match, even if he did win the 4th.
Ya but usually if you win the fourth, it means that the momentum is on your side. I dont think Blake has ever had that luxury.

Sure is a good thing for Davydenko that he went 5 sets today...oh wait...

well, the second set took all of 22 minutes. and they're reaching the 2 and 1/2 hour mark. you could just say this was a long three-setter.

if blake manages to win the 4th set, he will obviously have all the momentum on his side....but does he stand a chance to win...noting his winless 5 set record...

Ok, I kinda get what you're saying. But I think for Blake, it doesn't matter if he has momentum, because being 0-9 in 5 setters will weigh heavily enough on his mind, regardless of momentum.

I don't know about that.. with all the clay court play he had, I think he's proven his conditioning isn't a problem. He should take Davy out in 3-4, and be fine for Sunday. Unless Davy has been hiding something this entire time/Federer gets injured :P

Ya, but if he lost all of those 5 set matches after losing the fourth, then maybe all he needed was the momentum. I don't have the info to find this out though. The only Blake 5 setters I remember were against Agassi and Mirnyi.

well I don't think we're gonna get the answer to this question tonight......

Now we know Fed is being paid. After watching Blake hit the first return winner, why would he serve to the forehand again?
