So nothing in it really. I wonder how this will go down with H2H cheerleaders?

I'm sure others beyond myself appreciate the efforts you have gone to in compiling this list.

Excellent thread.. We all know the fact, but it is good to see the numbers prove that.

We know Fed was superior to Rafa at every event post FO and this bears out.

You can expect the usual 'Twisting of facts' , 'Nadal was a baby' defense.

Only on this board could a head to head tally include times when the two didn't even play each other. In a sport like tennis where injuries can lower rankings and a player might play a very formidable "floater" in an early round, this tabulation seems mind-achingly ridiculous.

Dont the same injury or a floater apply to Federer as well in a career spanning 16 years ?

I thought the real H2H is 23-10 and 9-2 in slams. What is the point of this thread? To twist things and make the H2H look more even? We all know Nadal absolutely owns Federer anyway.

If Rafa owns Fed during the first half of the year by the same token, Fed leads Rafa in the second half.

It is not Fed's fault that they met 24 times in the first half and 9 times in the second half.

Hit the nail on the head. Federer has and always will be, Nadal's pigeon.

I think the way some Fed fans try to justify Nadal's domination of Fed is hilarious.

News flash..the real world doesn't work like this..hypotheticals and what if's are cute and all but it just doesn't cut it..here in reality

Isn't Fed like 17-2 against Davydenko? I know he posted a 21-2 against Roddick. Also some insane H2Hs on guys like Robredo, Youzhny, Gonzalez.

Seriously being 5-6 is really a pigeon...I mean they played at some huge tournaments where championships were on the line

Davydenko owns Rafa 6-1 on hard.

Federer leads Rafa 6-3 in Post FO / 2nd half of the year.

They cannot be penalized for Rafa failing to show up .

This thread clearly elucidates that.

You are right. Nadal owns Federer in big stage matches. No doubt about it. But, at the same time, if Nadal is that good, he should have no problem matching or surpassing Federer's important achievements such as slam count for example. That will be the true test for Nadal in the next year or two.

Poor OP probably spent hours to retrieve such numbers, just so he could give 40 hypothetical wins to Roger, when he could only manage a meager 10 in his entire career.
He wouldn't have had the need to do so, if Freddy could actually man up against Nadal inside a Tennis court.

The desperation is strong with this one. The Freddy fanbois claim that H2H is not important, and then they only go to such desperate heights to fabricate the numbers to show their Tennis daddy in good light.

In b4 OP attacks me personally, and claims himself to be intellectually superior.

Just one look at your post precludes any thought of dialogue. Are you reading reverse psychology for dummies now?

OP proves that the real head to head between Nadal-Federer is 50-30 in Fed's favour. The Backspinner approves this thread.

2 pages in this thread without 1 honest reply.

Fed fans are the first to admit that no one in tennis history has ever had as much domination that Nadal has had over his fellow rivals.

Yet, you will never find anyone admitting that the h2h is skewed on account of the surfaces the matches were played.

The H2H domination is too obvious to deny even for delusional Fed fans like yourself and OP, yet you still want to twist facts to make Fed look better.

You are talking about delusion ? You just said Sampras will be a contender for No.1 in this era. :)

The deluded are the ones who cannot see anything beyond the 23-10.

Prime Sampras is definitely a contender for No.1 in this era. Anyone denying that is living in a fantasy world.

So you think prime Sampras is not a contender for number 1 in this era?

wait wait, so even including all the "potential matchups", Federer still trails Nadal by 11 matches overall? (13-2) That's PATHETIC!

What is the point in starting a thread in a forum where the majority are fans of current players, esp. Fed ?

I will give the benefit of doubt - Post it in the Former Players Forum. And word the thread unambiguously.

For someone who was so poor in clay is in no way getting the No.1 for even a week.

I will not even bring the slowed down surface into argument yet.

Obviously, you are living in a fantasy world. Nadal skipped the entire american hard court season and was still number 2. The current state of men's tennis is so bad right now that a guy missing 3 full months can still be number 2 in the world. If Nadal playing 50% of the season is still no.2-3, prime Sampras would have done much better. Again, you have no clue if you think prime Sampras is not a contender for the number 1 spot in the current state of men's tennis.

If prime Sampras is playing:
AO: Sampras wins over Wawrinka. No contest.
FO: Nadal wins.
Wimbledon: Sampras easily dominates grandpa Federer and Jokekovic.
US Open: Sampras beats Cilic easily. LOL.

So prime Sampras wins 3 slams easily if he's playing today. This is not even a debate as it is so obvious to others who are not deluded Fed fans.

This a list of opportunities for the two to play against one another. In the instances when one failed to make the meeting with the other, I have awarded the former with a win. If a player skipped a tournament, I did not make that a loss. It is to be considered, however, that one of the two was consistently involved at the highest level.

Here is the list:

2003
1-0 (ATP Masters Series Madrid, Spain; 13.10.2003; SU; Indoor: Hard; Draw: 48 )
2-0 (Wimbledon, England; 23.06.2003; GS; Outdoor: Grass; Draw: 128 )

Good thread - appreciate the effort and information. Funny how they're all tied up if you chop Nadal's brief age 17 foray into the tour. Nicely illustrates each of their strengths - Fed's peerless consistency, Nadal's big match play and ability to evolve his game over time.

This a list of opportunities for the two to play against one another. In the instances when one failed to make the meeting with the other, I have awarded the former with a win. If a player skipped a tournament, I did not make that a loss. It is to be considered, however, that one of the two was consistently involved at the highest level.
Let me make sure I understand what you did.

You made a list of all tournaments in which both players entered, in which it would have been possible for the two players to meet if one had not been eliminated before that could occur. Is that correct?

Good point. It has to be emphasized, however, that Fed plays through bad stretches of form and Rafa doesn't. This will impact the direct h2h in a big way and in your virtual h2h.

Additionally, when Fed OWNED the tour on hard courts, Rafa was almost always a no-show in the final stages in the 2nd half of the year (all the while owning Fed on clay)

If all that is accounted for, Rafa would still have a slightly better real h2h (because of matchup issues) and Fed will have a much better virtual h2h.

This a list of opportunities for the two to play against one another. In the instances when one failed to make the meeting with the other, I have awarded the former with a win. If a player skipped a tournament, I did not make that a loss. It is to be considered, however, that one of the two was consistently involved at the highest level.

Imagine...imagine... if you spent as much time doing your math homework as you did coming up with imaginary statistics to suit your personal narrative of reality when REAL statistics are already available...imagine where you'd be in life
