Who do you believe would be favored if they met in a Masters event today- Roger Federer or Donald Young? I would have to pick Young.

The logical thing to do is of course vote for Donald Young. But because everyone is racist here they will vote for Federer.

I'd pick Neil Young over Federer any day. Fed plays great but how many good songs did he wrote.

Cause that was the question, right?

Donald Young is black so if he were to lose I'd be compelled to say things about his skin, I'd have to go Young in straights.

No problem, Neil Young would write a song about it and Lynyrd Skynyrd would answer with another song, "Sweet home Cincinnati" or something like that.

Donald wins in straight sets:):):).

Not even a contest.

PS: Davey25 is becoming almost as good as Shureshs.

Young because the next time he gets to round 2 of a master series he will be about 27 and fed will be about 34. Young all the way.

Hey, remember when Sampras bagelled Wayne Ferreira in Miami in the first set, had two or three match points in the second set, lost the tiebreak and ultimately the match? With his #1 ranking on the line?

Young, unless it was at Cincy. Because Fed has now proven Surehs correct.

Look at the list of players he has lost to in Masters events in the last couple years and get back to me.

Has Young beaten, or even come close to beaten, ANY of those players? Get back to me when you find out, and go back to the cave please.

Young has a winning head to head with Feliciano Lopez. Lopez is ranked higher than Bennateau and Gulbis who have beaten Federer in Masters events in the last 6 months alone, and barely behind Baghdatis (2 spots only) who also accomplished the grand "feat".

Gulbis did look awesome in his first round match monday. I still love Fed (no rainbow), just don't know what's going on mentally. I know he stated after the US hardcourt run that his timing was off. Anyone take notice how he moved on court today? Did he spray a lot of shots? IDK b/c i'm at work. I honestly believe his work ethic may come into question sometime soon. I believe he isn't trying to avoid Nadal, I just think he isn't playing at all that well, simple as that. Come wimbly and mid-summertime, he will be back in form, hopefully...:)

I still believe in giving credit where credit is due, congrats to Gulbis today for winning against a mighty titan that is struggling (extremely) to find his form....

Oh, so we're doing the indirect thing. A guy I know, who was ranked in the 300s a few years ago in the world, beat Luis Horna. Luis Horna beat Federer in the first round of the French. Therefore, this guy I know can beat Federer, right? Seriously, go back to your cave.

At the time Federer lost to Horna he actually was a huge slam choker and could lose to nearly anyone in the slams, kind of the same thing way he could lose to anyone in the Masters events now. All your examples are pretty stupid and show nothing. Go back to your own cave moron.

Young also lost to a claycourt specialist 6-0, 6-0 on a HC.

and the way Federer is tanking all non slams and determined to lose as early as possible in each these days he would find a way to lose to someone who loses 6-0, 6-0 to a clay court specialist on a hard court too.

My example WAS 'stupid,' but it's the exact same thing you did, thereby making your theory 'stupid' as well.

I think we all get the point that Davey is trying to make even though this thread is a bit of a joke thread obviously.

I don't think Federer tanks these matches I just think he's more vulnerable in 2 out of 3 matches because his opponents are less likely to choke compared to Grand Slam matches and the shorter matches also give Federer less time to find his game (which is superior to the rest of the fields 99% of the time). Also, he's motivated to win Masters Series but nowhere near the motivation he has to win Grand Slam matches.

I'm sorry, but Donald Young has no weapons to threaten Federer with, hits an UE every 2 shots, and is a mental midget. At least the players that beat Federer have big weapons on nearly every shot (forehand, serve, backhand) that can hurt him with if they are on; there is absolutely nothing in Young's arsenal that would make one think that he could compete with Federer.

Nearly all the matches Federer is losing in Masters and for sure the 3 he lost this year to Berdych, Baghdatis, and Gulbis he lost by hitting a huge number of unforced errors. The matches to Berdych and Baghdatis he pretty much lost all on his own, like he didnt even care. In that case he can lose to pretty much anyone, you dont even need to have weapons.

So says the poster who actually thinks each of Federer's losses in Masters "deeply hurts" him, ROTFL!!!!

http://www.inter****onalibnlditalia.it/1/PopNews.asp?LNG=EN&IDNews=547

“It hurts,” he said to open his press conference. “I wasn’t up to speed, my serve was poor and it was frustrating. I wasn’t good from the baseline. There was no rhythm in the match and I couldn’t build from deep or get the right height on the ball. Clay is great when you’re in a rhythm as it’s easier to move your opponent around, but I haven’t played enough on clay yet this year.”

Can you please quote the post in which I said it 'deeply hurts' him? That's right, I never said that. Federer does care about these defeats though, he's a perfectionist who hates losing. Of course the slams mean more to him, but your pointless theories about tankjobs are plain stupid.

In case you havent noticed I am in the majority on the Federer tanks these Masters events theories, not the minority, it is you who is in the extreme minority at this point, in fact you are one of the only ones who seems to think he gives even close to the same effort in Masters events as slams. You really think you would see journeymen who arent even ranked in the top 30 like Julien Benneteau, Marcos Baghdatis and Ernests Gulbis beating him in 3 different slams in a 6 month span.

Who cares what PR nonsense he comes up with. Players arent allowed to tank, you are fined if you do, so of course nobody will admit they arent trying that hard. Serena claims she is trying her hardest in the non slam events too, and claims to be really upset after losing to Sybille Bammer twice in a row, or Patty Schnyder for about the 3rd time in a row. Agassi said he was better than ever at 35 with a horrible back injury that barely had him walking. Serena claimed the current Serena would crush the 2002-2003 Serena. Ferrero recently said he is playing at about the same level on clay as 2003. Sampras said at one point in 2002 he felt he was still as good a player as ever even though he hadnt won a tournament in over 2 years and was playing in perhaps the worst year in mens tennis history. Do you expect people to believe that too just because the player said it.

I couldn't believe he was talking about Donald Young.

Edit: Is Young even in the draw?

Edit: No, he's not. Where did this come from?
