Federer: Will End Up With More Majors Than Tiger

I said it here. Roger Federer should end up with more championships than tiger woods when its all said and done. Federer has more years left than people give him credit for. Quite frankly, it is disrespectful to say that. Tiger has proven to be not as dominant as in the past. There are more young guns on the PGA Tour now than ever. I see Federer getting the best of Tiger in the Slams department.

Do you really think before you post. Tennis players have a shorter span compared to golf.

Thats very disrespectful and ignorant of you to say. I plan on Federer winning 2 or 3 slams a year for the next 4 years. That would put him at least 22. Fed will undoubtly reach over 18. 22 slams is a real possibility.See, I am the smart one and think before I post, unlike others that I know.

Golfer's probably have the longest career span in the field sports category. Even if Roger gets 3 slams per year for 4 years, Tiger can manage 12 slams within a good 15 years. Either way, Federer wont ever in a zillion years make more money than Tiger.

wow your from basel, never would have thought that...

tiger will win one major for the next 10 years....and thats more than reasonable, compare that with your less than reasonable (not impossible, just unlikely) scenario, do the math, and...

sorry friend

Lets hope so. Its a lot harder to win on the PGA Tour than you think.

Can't wait till you get banned...

Federer will end up with far more majors in this time span: from the time he won his first (03) to the time he wins his last (2010 or 2011 is my guess), but Tiger will end up with the bigger number overall, just because he could EASILY play until 2020, if not further. You can be 50 and win a golf title, it's damn near impossible anymore to win a Slam at 30.

I dont think Federer drinks beer. More like a Cabernet Sauvignon or a fine Pinot Noir.

That is just absolutely crazy. You assume that Federer doesn't drink beer. How do you know he likes to drink a Cabernet or a nice Pinoit? Maybe he likes Merlot.

Golf is 10000000x harder than tennis.

I fail to see how a 'sport' where one doesn't ever hit a moving ball or actually 'compete' with another (players cannot impact another's success) is harder than tennis.

If I play my best in golf, I may or may not win, it simply depends who else is in the tournament i'm in and how they play. If I play my best in tennis, another player may change their game to affect how I play.

Ok - so I don't want to derail thread with a tennis - golf debate. Based on career longevity of golfers, Tiger has a much much better shot at finishing with more majors.

Wait, you plan on? Are you telling me you can control the future. Okay, if that's the case, can you make sure I graduate school with a degree in pharmacy? Thanks.

To the OP: Tiger can & perhaps will win many more slams that Federer due to his longeivity. the comparison is pointless IMO, given that golf is not a real sport that requires athletic excellence and physically demanding. it's a recreational sport at best

Golf is lame imo, and I don't give a damn about how many Slams mr Woods wins. The big athletes of this decade to me are:

Lance Armstrong
Michael Phelps
Roger Federer
Haile Gebresalassi

I'm not sure. I do not think it is only about the life span.
The motivation has to be still high to win those events. Federer had - up to now - an unbelievable concentration when he played the majors. more than tiger woods. but wood is not yet on the top of the golf champions (well, not concidering the majors) so he might still have this motivation and he certainly has more time. if federer manages to be as consitent for further 2-4 more years with winning about 6 grand slams title, I think he will end up leading with that.

anyway: the best thing that could happen would be if tiger would end winning majors if he has the same number as roger (or the other way around) :)

I would wipe out the "younger players"-argument. They are just the best. It's not about the others to stop them, they can only stop themselves.

hi to somebody from basel too ;)

Please, explain.

everything u write is about fed
do you seriously live just to glorify fed?
u can sometimes also comment his "gentleness" when he loses and instead of congratulating his opponent he mentions
- wind
- light
- BLISTERS
etc
and when he cries after losing a match...

That's extremely unrealistic and you need to not be so sensitive over someone who raised entirely legitimate doubts of your state of mind when you make threads like this.

For sure Federer has more slams in him but Tiger has time on his side. Tiger is 6 years older but he'll play until his mid 40's. That's golf for you.

Tiger will retire with more majors than Fed.

Yea, I love Federer, but the reality is that Tiger Woods has boatloads of time on his side. He has at least 10 more years, maybe 20 before he's out of it for winning a Major.

Not a chance in hell,Conquistador quit making these lame threads.Do you realize how much longevity golfers have compared to any other sport including tennis?

I fancy Tiger's chances of winning 5 majors in 10 years.

As long as he stays reasonably healthy he will win atleast 1 major every year for awhile IMO. So I would see him breaking the record in 2013 at the latest, although probably sooner that that. Of course while Tiger could wins majors in his 40s he would like to get it done before his 40s begin just in case. Nicklaus himself I believe own only 1 major past 40. While golf has longevity the majors are still mostly always won by guys in their 20s and 30s.

You PLAN on Roger to win 2-3 slams a year from now on? What are planning to do, kill Rafa and anyone else in Fed's Grand Slam draws who threaten his chances of winning?
