Federer will have to face 2 big servers...

Anderson, and then either Isner or Raonic before he even gets to Nadal/Djokovic. I’d argue that his draw is as at least as tough as Nadal or Djokovic. In fact, I believe that both Nadal and Djokovic would rather have the draw they have at this point on grass than to have Federer’s draw (meeting Anderson and then Isner/Raonic before getting to Federer).

What do yo guys think?

Federer's draw is easier for Federer, Nadal's draw is easier for Nadal. They should meet in the final. If you swapped their places, they'd still be the favorites to make it to the final, but there'd be a much higher chance for a Djokovic-Raonic final than there is currently. Great draw for both (and for us fans).

I think Fed has some of the fastest reflexes I've ever seen and an uncanny ability to return monster serves....Hopefully this will offset their biggest weapon....But yeah.. They are in a better part of the draw.. and Fed has a major task in front of him....

Fedr can't complain and i say that as a fan. Anderson/Isner should be no problem, and Raonic isnt at his best. If he can't get through this field he doesnt deserve the title. You never know with Delpo, but (if Djoker beats Ninja) Nads has to go through 3 slam winners to get the title.

He has some incredible reflexes. I wonder if that can be measured accurately. Would love to know how they compare to others.

I think Federer will not have any trouble in dealing with Anderson/Isner and expect him to put away Raonic in no more than 4 sets.

Raonic always plays at 460% against Roger.

Not a huge problem. I don't think Anderson will cause Fed much trouble because his ground game isn't good enough even if his serve is. Anderson doesn't really have the consistently huge second weapon (i.e FH) that you need to beat/trouble Fed at Wimbledon and in slams in general.

He's also beaten Raonic a couple times here. At this point I'm most worried about Isner because he is serving BOMBS, and if he's on he's almost impossible to break and his FH is good enough to scare Fed.

Federer's still a big favourite to make the final though.

Yeah he will have a hard time breaking their serves. But, you know what? The so called big servers will have a harder time breaking Federer's serve. There would be tie breaks and Fed's superior movement and baseline game will clinch the tie breaks for him.

But how much can one ask for? Fedr only has to play one of Nadal/Djoker/Delpo. He didnt have to play Cilic. I really dont think Fedr & fans (me) can complain about the draw.

Some fans will complain anyway. If Djoker was In Fedrs draw they would say "once again"!?! When Djoker wasnt they complain about Cilic. When Cilic is out it's Raonic (I have a feeling it's going to be Isner btw).

I think both Nadal and Fedr got suspiciously easy quarters, money is everything, so im not surprised If the organizers want Fedal final. But Federers draw is good, he should win this If he at the same level as last year.

It's a complete joke to suggest that Anderson is a tougher matchup than Del Potro and also that Raonic or Isner is tougher than Djokovic. I'm a Federer fan. Come on man, try to show a little critical thinking here and not sound incredibly biased!

Think Fed prefers facing two big servers in a row compared to playing Delpo and Novak back-to-back. Of course anything can happen in a given match (and the dude is 37) but when it comes to grass, Fed is a pretty sure bet against big servers. Delpo always gets up for playing Fed and Novak returning to form could be the toughest opponent on grass for either ot Fedal.

/Thread.

Retrievers, and only the very good ones, are the worst matchup for Federer. He eats servebots for brunch on Sundays.

The crux of why Fed and Sampras are two of the most dominant Wimbledon champions in the Open Era right there.

Are you feckin kidding me? The fact that Nadal and Djokovic will likely have to face each other in the semi finals makes their draw much more tougher than Federer's against servebots

Correct. If any true Fedr fan could put together the QFs, they would put Djokovic, Delpo and Nadal to play each other. I am a big Federer-fan, he has a nice path, and he should win the title.

Yep, yep, yep. While all 3 could potentially upset Federer, Isner seems to the only one who could take the racket out of Federer’s hand for the entire match. Fed could play a good match and still lose to Isner. (Imho, it’s a shame that someone like Isner exists on tour: a D1 game...except of course for that serve)

Simple question: why? Because, as we all remember, the fact that Federer and Djokovic faced each over in SF in almost every slam for years on end was a non-issue at the time ("luck of the draw", "Murray is at least as tough a draw as Djokovic, probably even tougher", etc.). So why is it suddenly tough to have Djokovic in one's half of the draw. Is it because he's now peaking, as his ranking of #21 can attest?

What the heck are you talking about. Nearly everyone agreed that Djokovic was the tougher draw for many years now. I'm sure you could single a couple posters that posters whose opinion went against the majority, but why are you focusing on the small minority?

The ATP has improved its draw rigging methods.
Now they produced the compounded rigging solution, in order to benefit more than one player simultaneously.
Good job!

How can many Fed fans be so unobjective??

Del Potro has 1 GS. Anderson and Raonic have 0 GS.

In addition, Djokovic has 12 GS (including 3 Wimbledon titles). Djokovic alone is tougher than any of Fed rivals.

Nadal has a more difficult path/draw to the final than Federer. Deal with it. Stop with the excuses.

When has Fed ever had problems with big servers? He only has problems with guys that can't serve over 110 mph or hit overheads.
I’m sorry, did you guys say something? I couldn’t hear over the sound of Anderson beating Federer.

Well i stand by my word. When you dont beat Anderson on grass you dont deserve the title. Roger probably done winning slams:oops:. But winning AO at 36y isnt bad after all.

What does that even mean anyway? If you don’t beat ANY opponent on ANY surface then obviously you don’t deserve the title. That applies in every tennis match against every player so it’s kind of a meaningless, ridiculous statement.

I beg to differ, but we’ll agree to disagree on that point. :p
There's nothing there that says we deserved your response. Fed was expected to beat Anderson. He didn't, but the confidence wasn't misplaced. Let's not agree to disagree. Say something for yourself.

Well given that you only play 7 players In a field of 128, it's not irrelevant who you get In your draw. Some people said Fed had a tough draw, i say his draw was ok, he just wasnt good enough. If he had closed this on the match point In 3 sets, he still wouldnt win the title. So what i meant to say was; this match was winnable, but Rogers level wasnt good enough to win W18

I stand by what I wrote. The fact that Federer lost to Anderson does not mean that Anderson was the more difficult draw. Federer got the easier draw but he still lost.
