Federer's Back

Well.. I -as a Federerfan- really enjoyed this match and loved to watch how he slaughtered Del Potro.

But to be fair, I don't quite yet believe that he is back. This far he has looked better than the previous 2 years, he looked sharper, more focused, more dedicated. But Del Potro has a playing style that is absolutely perfect for Federer en Federer's playing style is absolutely killing for Del Potro. Accordingly to this Federer clearly felt real comfortable on court and Del Potro just didn't seem to have the notion that he could ever win this match. The same thing goes for Andy Roddick in my opinion.. Federer just seems to love how Andy plays, playing right into his cards.

Nadal however is a completely different story. Nadal -I think- doesn't mind Federer's playing style and Federer -i think- hates Nadal's playing styl with all the spin and grinding down the points. Nadal also seems to be more confident on court than Federer when they play each other.

So to sum it up, i like what I'm seeing so far this year from Federer, but I don't quite yet think that "he's back", but i certainly hope so.

He wouldve had more winners had he played more games, seems like fed has raised the bar once more, so much for the young guns that were supposed to overtake him this year

Yup, the FedEx is back in his old full glory, ready to take RG by storm.

And yesterday he should have retired.

Things sure happen fast here.

He's not back, this is just a level he can reach when he's in the zone. He will get in the zone with less frequency now he gets older, but he defenitely showed people shouldn't count him out in the next couple of years.

Yea, a lot of anti-Fed ****s were saying Del Potro would play him tougher than Berdych, wouldn't choke, etc etc. Now, they're trying to down-play the match. LOL.

Agreed. Good post.

Nadal 58 winners 9 unforced vs Haas who played 20 times better than the tanking Del Potro.

And your point? I think there was a thread regarding Nadal vs Haas so go and post there. People really have to troll around just to make a comparison about Nadal and Federer.

Nadal doesn't mind Nadal's style, but given how close the wimbledon final in Fed's terrible year was, and given the fact that Nadal likes even slow hardcourts worse than grass, and given that Federer's never been in that much trouble on his bh against Nadal on hardcourts and the fact he won their last hardcourt encounter wouldn't make Nadal the clear favourite for me.

Federer has to be back to play Roddick and then the finals, too. As they say, we don't know which Roger will turn up, heheh.

Traditionally, Federer has been playing better the further he gets in a GS. Based on that, I hope all will be well. I want an epic match in the semis (AO 2007 style against Roddick) and an epic one in the finals!

I thought I set the HD+DVR to record this match between Fed and Del Potro but somehow it didn't...

Anyone know if I can watch it online somewhere or download it?

ESPN2 usually replays the matches sometime in the late afternoon. You could try and catch it then, although it's so short, you might miss it if you blink. ;)

I'm in Portugal, don't get ESPN2. Maybe I could find it online...

Any place good to go for video highlights? Youtube has the final game of each set, but it will probably be taken down.

I hope someone makes a cool highlights vid :)

=\ That's no fun, I'm sure you could find a site somewhere that has the match archived, if not now, in the next week or so. How do you usually watch the matches?

I usually watch on Eurosport HD.
Maybe they'll replay some or most of it on the next couple of days, since there are less matches going on.

I was at work and checking the score, then saw some of the forum posts and was really eager to watch it when I got home, but technology let me down yet again :)

Now if only you had that DVR that allowed you to set up a recording via your phone, you wouldn't be in this little debacle.
