So the trick for Federer is to go to bigger frame that won't lose control he had with 90 sq inch frame. This is very hard to do. Bigger racket will always give you more trampoline effect

Agree. also it is the clay courts that he had issues with too many mishits in the past. so this is the ideal surface for him to try out the new slightly bigger frame.

Nostradamus, someone with your postcount should know better...
You're always making statements without facts to back it up and raising questions based on false premisses.

You're starting annoying me the way Fedace did, but at least we all knew he was a troll.

No it is not a false premise. I have never seen roger's left arm that high before. He is starting to look like Gulbis there. That is Very scary to me.

I wonder if Roger is maybe being influenced by Serena to some extent. She's using the Blade 104, with 4G, right? Maybe Federer will switch to a Blade with 4G as well. If the switch does happen, what happens to the Tour 90?

totally agree. Especially given the similarity between Serena and Fed's game.

Nothing will happen to tour90. Wilson will simply make new Blade with Roger Federer endorsing it and make lots of money. and tour 90 will just be a racket he used to use to win his legendary most amount of Majors.
If that Blade does happen, it will be Huge news. and it will most likely sell even BETTER than his tour90. since it will be more amateur user friendly.:)

Weekend warriors rocking the 90 who hug the baseline, nimble on their feet, taking everything on half volley, going to the net at the first opportunity.. in other words >>>> bizarro fantasy world.

Wait, so what everyone here is saying, is that Federer might be using the Blade(93/95)? That would be a pretty big change from the pro staff, wouldn't it? It would be cool to see Fed playing with the same line of rackets as me. I'm still using the old K blade tour 93 (Djokovic, Tsonga used to play with them) but I'm thinking of switching to the new Blade 93.

If it was a blacked out pro staff one could assume he's switching to a bigger head with a similar frame, that would be "big" news. But I doubt he'd switch to a different type of a frame, he's probably just testing to give some feedback to Wilson. But again it would be "HUUUUUUUGE" news if he changed to a totally different frame.

Agree, Blade would be different feel and maybe too much of shift from his Tour 90 frames. but if Pete can switch to Babolat, I think anything is possible..

I sure hope he does not exclude the Basalt crystals from the new Blade 93 Tour RF stick. His feel would not be the same. No more elegant droppas or piercing slices.

He would turn into a Tsonga type player if the Basalt is not sprinkled in the contents of the frame mold composition.

Yep, you have a valid point about playing with that in public... I just can't wait to see what he's using in the first match, it is indeed very exciting. And I agree with most posters here that clay tournaments would probably be the best testbed for him to test a new racquet.

I hope Wilson goes back to the black frames with colored stripes like the ps85. Then the paint will not chip off as easily because the frame is the same color all the way through.

That's what I was thinking. Testing a new frame for Wilson is one thing, but testing it in public, being photographed with it? And so close to the start of a tournament? That's a real stretch to say he's doing Wilson a favour or something.

Yet that cannot be because it is now allowed on this board.

There must be an alternate explanation. I think Fedace died and his spirit possessed Nostradamus.

Will you people quit whining like little babies about the picture quality? This isn't a photo shoot. Someone is probably hanging out where Federer is practicing and decided to snap a few pictures.

That is definitely NOT a 98.

This is how big the 98 is. Compare this to the racquet in Federer's hands:

How do you know for sure? Did you see them taking the racquet out of the Blade mold in the factory? LOL

We haven't yet seen any close-ups of the frame he's using.

big difference between play testing sticks for Wilson and actually switching racquets. Fed was scheduled for downtime at this point and might have had a program booked with Wilson for playtesting. Last minute he signed up for these tournaments so now he's keeping his playtesting commitment with Wilson but still playing the tournament. There is no reason to think he won't be coming out in the first round with his same old racquet. I'm actually willing to bet he's not switching racquets

Don't worry. Djokovic and Tsonga never played with the K-Blade Tour 93. They were using paintjobs.

Blades are junk. Easily in the top 5 worst sticks I've hit with.

If Fed actually made a switch to a bigger racquet, we might see an abnormal spike in people that can hit more than 2 balls without shanks. I dare say that matches involving Fed fan boys might actually reach the 45 minute mark now!

It's not crazy dense. There are 16 mains. That means it isn't a Blade 93, or a 104. It could be a 98.

For sure? It seemed pretty dense to me since the quality is so poor.

Now I'll take your word if I have to, but allow me to doubt. Then, Dolgopolov plays with a 6.0 Original 95 mold with 16/18 instead of 16/19, with 16/18 written on the frame instead of 16/19, but interestingly labeled as 16/19 in the specs written on the throat. So it's not impossible for Wilson to alter the specs a bit.

    EDIT:
@Gavna: Are you stringing at this event?

Don't take anybody's word for it. Do what we did: count the mains. I couldn't count the crosses, but the mains are clear enough. If necessary, download the picture and then open it in a picture viewer that allows you to zoom in.
