AO: Straight setted ATG level Safin
FO: Lost to peak Kuerten
W: Straight setted the British hero. Later beat ATG level Hewitt and Roddick
USO: Survived old peak Agassi. Later gave 2 bagels to ATG level Hewitt

2005

AO: Lost to the Russian God whose peak level is unmatched
FO: Lost to a teenager who now has 13 FOs
W: Straight setted ATG level Hewitt and Roddick
USO: Beat old Agassi who finally peaked higher than Sampras

2006

AO: Baghdatis lol
FO: Lost to peak Clay GOAT
W: Beat the true younger Grass ATG
USO: Showed ATG level Roddick who's the boss

2007

AO: Straight setted ATG level Roddick and wannabe Pancho
FO: Lost to peak Nadal
W: Beat Grassdal in 5
USO: Straight setted young ATG from Serbia

2008

AO: Was able to unleash only 30% of his power due to mono. Therefore, lost to the young boy who will eventually ruin tennis
FO: Humiliated by peak Nadal
W: Drastically declined. Therefore, lost to the younger ATG who was also enjoying the match-up advantage
USO: Beat prime Slumpovic and then straight setted Murray who actually played like an ATG

2009

AO: Drastically declined. Therefore, lost to the younger ATG with the match-up advantage. Later cried because he finally found the worthy rival
FO: Successfully avoided Nadal. But beat ATG level field anyway
W: Successfully avoided his much younger rivals. But beat ATG level field anyway
USO: Straight setted prime Slumpovic. Then lost to the one Slam wonder because of age difference

Average height of top 25 players were pretty low during these period.

Quite a few attacking players either dropped out or took a break to retool their game into baseline game,
due to sudden surface changes on hard and grass courts.

Everybody struggled to find good game on new court conditions.
Also tennis balls got heavier during these period.

Watching TCC and they're playing 2000 Stuttgart SF with Kafelnikov and Hewitt! I remember LH having long hair, but the dark ponytail's a mystery! Who knew this was the end of an era and the beginning of a new one; though short? Sampras was on his way out as #1 and Lleyton ascended the throne later after destroying him in the USO Final the following year! :sneaky:

just a note on the “baghdatis lol” comment above—of course he wound up falling well short of expectations but during that that time period he was playing some really great tennis...i think these weak era conversations get a bit muddled, in any given stretch of time there are a group of players hitting the ball phenomenally well...whether they go on to win 10 slams or not doesn’t mean beating them then and there wasn’t a significant achievement.
