Agassi's longevity at the US Open was pretty incredible.

He's a bit like Djokovic in that regards at USO, incredibly consistent there but underachieving when it came to titles.

Strangely, both have a similar sort of dominance at AO and similar sort of finals record at RG.

W is the only one notably different.

running into Federer and Sampras 6 times (and Lendl twice) isn't underachieving. Djokovic did sort of underachieve, losing to guys he shouldn't in prime years.

Haha - the opposite I think

Agassi was up and down, all over the place, you never knew which version would show up (and there were more than 2 versions)

Djokovic was the machine, pencil him into the semis and start the tournament there

Agassi would have needed a bit of luck to win the finals and semis he lost for the most part

Djokovic has probably been a bit unlucky - or at least, underperformed - in his finals for the most part

Agassi also lost in the quarters twice due to the draw screwing him and he pushed the two best USO players ever to the limit both those matches. Those are as good as most of Djokovic's semi/finals performances if not all of them. Agassi was usually pretty consistent at the USO when he was in form.

Damn it (Mets) Man, you're making my point better than I did:mad:

If you replaced "Agassi" with "Djokovic" in the above sentence... it would sound pretty silly, wouldn't it?

There'd be no need for either of the bolded phrases - which taken together in conjunction with "consistency" is borderline oxymoronic

Have to disagree here too

Agassi was favourite in all 4 matches with Sampras... and lost them all. Odds of that happening would have been less than 1/16 - yet it did

To not call that underachieving is to assume Sampras was just a class above Agassi on hard courts... which I don't believe at all. On hard courts, they were basically neck and neck, but you wouldn't know that from just looking at the US Open

Not unlucky. Djokovic underperformed massively at the USO in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
