my pick is miami 2009. he struggled ti beat roddick and of course he made a ton of unforced errors against djokovic resulting in his first raquet smash in a long time. which other tournamnets were terrible for federer?

it was this year 2013 match against rafa when he had a back problem during the match :(..... it was the worst i seen.

Miami 2009 was most definitely not his worst tournament ever! He made it to the SF! His worst tournament ever would be one where he lost early, like say Toronto 2008 where he lost his first match to Gilles Simon, ranked 22 or Cincy that year where he struggled against Ginepri in his first match then lost to Karlovic in 3rd rd. (also ranked 22 I might add). And in the Karlovic match I don't think he even got broken which just added insult to injury.

Worst tournament....yeah...he was pretty bad this past week guys. He got stomped by Rafa. Usually it is Fed doing the role reversal if he wins.

Wimbledon 2010 is probably the worst I've seen. He really shouldn't have escaped the Falla match, that's one time I really can admit he was lucky.

How about 2003 French Open? He got straight-setted in the 1st round by someone called Luis Horna!

A few weeks later he went on to win Wimbledon (his first Slam title).

Does a first round loss count? A terrible tournament for me is going to the later rounds struggling with easy opponents and getting destroyed by top players.

Federer hasn't produced anything terrible in his life. He doesn't know how to. Even when he fails he manages to make it look efortless and brilliant.

Interestingly every time Fed's beaten Nadal, he's gone on to win that tournament.

As for his "most terrible tournament", i would say either RG02 / RG03
