One thing no one can complain about was Feds serve, 30 aces? That's one set for free!
I agree with those who say that new racquet allows for more power and consistency in serve.
If Fed would have listened to Edberg, who I'm sure told him to only come forward when he had Novak in an awkward position, it would have been a different outcome. You don't come forward these days after simply firing to an opponents fore or backhand, that's suicide. When you are moving your opponent around and he's reaching for a shot, THEN go in, that's more free points. Watch the match replay, watch when Fed gets Novak into a bad returning position and comes in, he takes the point easy. Likewise watch what happens when Fed hits to Novaks fore and backhand then comes in, he gets passed each and every time, HIDEOUS strategy. Last thing is you don't baseline a baseliner, I think the stats were 66/33 in over 5 shot rallies, over 5 shots Fed needed to slow it down. I saw it a few times, low powered and low level slice, Novak had to move forward and pop it up, perfect for a Fed put away, but what did Fed do? Sliced deep, all that accomplished was a nice, slow bounce for Novak, and of course Novak killed the ball.
Great job for Novak, I can't watch Fed anymore, it's just too frustrating. Strategy is a part of the total game, and Fed did a horrible strategic job.
