Federer's slam record could hinge on this Nadal Djokovic semi

Very dangerous match for Federer this Nadal Djokovic semi final is. If Nadal wins, he is almost certain to make it 18 slams taking him to within 2 of Roger. Cant see Federer adding to 20. However Nadal has time, is a lock for at least 2 more FO's and will be a threat at the others. Federer needs Djokovic here.

You could be right but I also thought Djokovic was going to get more slams than Federer and look what happened. You just can’t be sure.

There is really no way to make this call. Both Nadal and federer have looked finish throughout their careers already. ;)

Think Fed will finish with 21/22 in the end.

One more Wimbledon and one more of AO/USO.

This match, however, is still very important.

Pulling hard for Djokovic!

Said this is another thread ...

I’m a fan of Federer first and I wanted Isner second...

But I’ve been rooting for Djokovic all year long. It’s the same fight that Federer had 2013-2016. The desperation of a fallen champion trying to reclimb the mountain. Trying to prove the haters and doubters wrong. Trying to stop his contemporaries from running too far ahead.

Hope he wins this match

Don't care. Fed is the clear goat and piling up a bunch of slams against mostly mugs doesn't change that. Wait until Zverev gets close to 20. People will be calling him the GOAT.

This is definitely a possibility, but to say you can't see Federer adding to 20 while Nadal is a lock for at least 2 more slams when they have split the last six sounds very biased.

It's not a case of me being biased, particularly as I'm a Federer fan. I would love to see him add to his 20 but my objective feeling is that he hasn't played well enough this year to make me think he has more slams in him. I felt that the Oz Open was a bit of a gift. Everybody barring Cilic played badly against him and he didn't have to beat anybody of any real calibre apart from Cilic who pushed him all the way. He then inexplicably lost the IW final after serving for it, got dumped out of the first round of Miami and was poor for his standards in the Halle tournament struggling in several matches and losing the final. Losing a Wimbledon match after being 2 sets up is another sign for me that his level isn't what it was last year and with his age you would have to question wether he can come back again to the required level to win a slam.
