Federer's worst matches against Nadal

I nominate these 2:

In the MC one Fed lead twice by a break in the 1st only to immediately give it back. Then lead by 4-0 in the 2nd and lost it.

Then in the Hamburg one he leads 5-1 in the first set and loses the last 6 games.

Absolutely dreadful and terrible losses. Don't know why he was such a chokeaton in these 2 matches. His level was very good, but his mind betrayed him. He was even outplaying peak Nadal on clay in both matches.

Probably the matches that completely crushed his confidence against Nadal which then resulted in the FO beatdown and the Wimb loss.

Federer was worse in the 2007 Monte Carlo final than either of those.
At MC 2007 he was simply outplayed. It happens with Nadal on clay.

But in the 2008 matches he was actually outplaying Nadal on clay but couldn't keep a lead to save his life.

I'd be more interested to know what we think his "worst" win was against Nadal (and vice versa).

From match only perspective - Miami 2005 no doubt.

From career perspective, Wimbledon 2019 - The only time he didn't go onto win the title, and losing the way he did in the final.

Yeah, but Fed wasn't ready then. Nadal just vultured another win in Fed's worst period.
But I honestly think he felt very insecure with his new racket, specially on the forehand side. It was disappointing but acceptable.

I remember asking myself back then, Why is Federer losing so many Hard court Slam matches against Nadal, scratching my head as I hadn't kept up with live tennis throughout 2012-13, watching a slam final here and there , at most.

But looking back, yes, not as much of a disappointment as few others.

Miami 2004 and 2011.

Federer was injured in 2013 and still adjusting to the new racquet in early 2014. Not as bad given the circumstances, and clay is clay so...
