Feds playing schedule for the rest of the year?

Hi,

I was wondering if Fed had talked about the events he plans to enter in the next few weeks. I know he is in the QFs in Spain today. I see that there is an event in his hometown:

Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel
Basel, Switzerland
October 23-29

And then Paris Indoor. Then off to China for the Masters Cup!

Thanks so much!

Regards,
Steve

If he wins Madrid he'll probably skip Paris. Don't see him skipping Basel since its his home town and he probably wants another cow !

Defcon,

Not so sure about the COW...LOL I am sure he will find a way to miss Paris if he wins Madrid.

Steve

i see a loss to nadal in one of those tourneys.

Where is Nadal anyways? I haven't heard a beep about him for quite some time. Almost like he disappeared off the face of the planet.

But yeah Ace got it right. I also think Federer should think about getting some relax time before Tennis Masters Cup especially now that he has already won 80 matches again (tying I think Lendl's record for consecutive seasons with at least 80 matches won) and and if he beats Nal he will have three seasons of winning at least 10 tournaments which I believe is also another record held by Lendl?

We all know Federer plays for history now so...

If he keeps playing and winning will he get over 90? Thats got to be a record? I know in March or April he will break Lendl's record of # of weeks at the #1 spot in a row.

As I counted, he could broke Connors by winning in Basel, he has a huge advantage.

Wow,

Just checked on this... "Ivan Lendl went 96-14 in 1981 and 106-9 in 1982". Guy played every week????

I am sure Fed will never play so many matches as Ivan did, that was sick. But he is so dominant, he barely reaches the tournament limit in the rankings. With him winning and Nadal losing points in Madrid a win in Basel can already guarantee his #1 position after AusOpen, I think.

Hey Man!!!

What is the record for prize money in one year? I see that Fed is over 6 mil and could get close to 9 mil if he runs the table. Anyone know the record? I think Pete had the most total over all like at 30 mil or so. Fed is like 26 now.

Steve

Sampras: 43,280,489

Re: Most matches played/won

This is sick:

Guillermo Vilas (Argentina) in 1977, 131-15 (.897).

he also won 16 titles that year which I think are all still the records.

Yesterday:
"Q. Of course. My question is do you have special preparation when you're going to play three weeks in a row including two Masters Series events?
ROGER FEDERER: No. I can't prepare especially for this. Preparations go more on Grand Slams and the entire season. I used to sometimes play five tournaments in a row. So now I feel like I'm fit enough to play three in a row. I don't think it should be a problem. It's the end of the season. I think that's the difficult part, because you always have to be a bit careful with injuries. That's the problem I've had in the last couple of years. My goal is really to try to play the three tournaments and then play Shanghai. Because the last couple of years I've never played indoors, and I'd love to win Madrid. I'd love to win Basel and Paris. There's tournaments that I have not been able to win yet, so I'm trying to give myself the best chance this year.

Q. The last time you played against David on such a surface was in Shanghai. If you had to compare your physical shape here and in Shanghai with numbers, what would you say you were?
ROGER FEDERER: Well, obviously I feel way better now. I was struggling in Shanghai all the way through, but I beat him in the first round robin match. People don't remember. And then eventually I ended up losing against him in the finals. This surface is quite different than the one in Shanghai because it's a rubber court there. Here it's on wood. I always think it favors me because he's beaten me in Basel as well on that surface before. I hope I can use this surface which is my favorite surface indoors to beat him tomorrow."

Nice job,

So Pete's record in 1997 is gone since Fed is in the Final on Sunday in Madrid.

Not yet; if he wins Basel over Nadal in the finals, but Nadal wins everything else all the way to AO, AO inclusive (and Fed doesn't play at all or loses very early in each of the cupcoming tournaments), Nadal will become no 1.... but this is VERY unlikely

here are the calculations:

WHat's really sick about Fed's success is that he only plays the minimum required events but ends up playing more matches then anyone because he gets to every final.

are these figures of prize money?

if so, then you cant compare these...inflation of prices have gone up a lot since the 1990s even...

for example, sampras winning the us open in 1993....he won like $550,000 for it,...and 10 yrs later, andy roddick took hom $1 million for winning the us open

federer was $1.2 million this yr i believe

if they are not money figures i dont know what they are...please tell me

Roger is scheduled to play an exhibition match in South Korea against Rafa next month after the Masters Cup. I think this is the only way we're going to another Fed/Rafa showdown.

To put this in further perspective

Nadal's record is 136-19

in the last two years, 2005 to present.
