Fed's RF97 buttcap

Couldn't find any records of a discussion talking about Fed's custom buttcap on the RF97.

I vaguely recall a P1 interview or article that mentioned they used whatever buttcaps they had available laying around to finish Fed's racquet when he was wielding the 90, but the RF97 buttcap he uses is definitely custom. Gel-type middle portion like the old BLX's and 1st gen RF97's, but no trapdoor (or trapdoor notch at least)

Anyone have any other insight other than the obvious?

He doesn’t use the garbage retail rf97 cap shaped like chisel. It was shaped like a regular Wilson cap back in the early 2000. It took wilson 20 years to finally correct their error. Bravo.

What’s the reasoning for the asymmetric design with the tab clip thing? Pro staff retail buttcap. And on tennis warehouse it says the regular buttcap isn’t compatible with pro staff frames, is that true?

i believe the shape you are talking about is for compatibility with a smart sensor on the retail model.
