Fed's Schedule for the rest of the year

Does anyone know what Fed has announced with regard to his schedule for the rest of the year? I wonder if he will revise it in light of the AO.

I would recommend scaling back his participation at most non Slams and perhaps even skipping the Clay Masters, where he really has nothing to gain.

Here's my schedule:
Dubai
Indian Wells (I say this selfishly, as I'll be there this year and really want to see him. I was there last year and missed him!)
Madrid (He plays best at this event; skip Monte Carlo and Rome)
French Open (just for kicks; no real expectations here)
Halle
Wimbledon
Cincy
USO
Basel
(skip the rest of the indoor HC season)

Basically, he needs to rest his body and see if he can't win ONE more GS.

Unlike many others here, I feel that the GS record could still be in jeopardy if Novak gets hot again.
 
If Novak comes back strong mentally and physically, he has his chances in the next 3 majors. He's over the FO hoodoo now, so he will feel more relaxed. At Wimbledon, if he avoids going out earlier, usually the dangerous match is when he put on court 1, then USO he consistent there, but a lot of final losses.

Will be interesting!
 
I think he'll play Dubai coming off the high of AO win. After that, probably early exit in IW, skip Miami, skip Monte Carlo. Plays Madrid/Rome/RG. Skips Halle, plays Wimbledon. Skips Canada, plays Cincy, USO. Then finishes with Basel and YEC.

Dubai/IW/Miami will tell us a lot about where Novak's mind is.

Why would he skip Halle?

The rest of this sounds pretty sensible. I hope he takes IW seriously!

People here underestimate Novak's focus. The guy will be healthy PHYSICALLY for the next 3-4 years and definitely wants to make a run at the GS record. I agree that the next 3 majors will largely determine if he has any shot of that lofty aspiration.

I still don't think that Fed has sealed the deal. Fed needs one more to bury the competition! Let's do it, Roger!

I agree with you! Novak is still in great shape and has had no real severe injuries yet.

I think fed maybe safe but yes he made need 1 more to be sure as I see Novak having another surge at some point! ;)

Fed needs one of two things:
1) Pepe Imaz to further drain Novak's competitive will and send him spiraling into mediocrity
2) A great "young" player to emerge to stop Ultron (Zverev perhaps)
3) another GS trophy to prevent Ultron from usurping his throne in the next 3-4 years.
 
pretty sure he'll play Halle and Stuttgart as he should. As for the rest, Cinci + US, possibly Shanghai, Basel, WTF.
He's not missing the FO on purpose, but I think it would be good for him to lose early and prepare more for grass. He'll play Dubai, one HC Masters and then hopefully just Madrid + FO.
 
And yeah, agree that it's not a done deal concerning Novak. Nor Rafa for that matter. If he can play like this, he's suddenly relevant at 3 slams again. 19 it is... ;-)

ROGER FEDERER: Play a tournament, take six months off (smiling). I'll have no ranking eventually because I won't be able to win every single time I come back.

I always felt like breaks were important for me. If you think back, I always played, but I always also took bigger vacations, bigger breaks. I know you don't know exactly what I do in my time off, or when you don't see me after Wimbledon, what I do until Cincinnati or the Canadian Open or what I do after the year is over.

I remember some years I wouldn't hit tennis balls for four to five weeks. I think that was really important for me to look at the longevity aspect.

Sometimes I was talking to the team and thinking it was too much time off almost, because I had all this momentum going for me, I would just throw it out of the window for longevity.

It's so nice to play when you're confident, because to get that kind of confidence after winning a slam, not playing anymore, it's a bit of a waste actually. You should be playing then because you could just keep playing with confidence.

But I guess looking back overall, it was probably a good decision to take. I hope the six months are going to help me in the future. But I think it's still super early stages in my comeback, that I first want to play a couple months now on tour, and really reassess, maybe by April, how then the schedule is going to look like down the road.

I will probably never be able to play 27 tournaments a year anymore. We know that all. But maybe instead of playing 22 you play 18, instead of 20 you play 17. That could totally happen. You always need the right balance, I feel like, enough practice, enough matches, enough time off. I guess as you get older, everything becomes a bit different.

I selfishly wish Fed takes a break and skips IW. I was there last year and really really wanted to see him. But I may not be able to make it to IW this year.
 
I'm surprised he'll play Miami.

He usually skips Miami and sometimes Monte Carlo and goes Madrid-Rome-RG.

He's had more success at Madrid but I think he likes Rome more since it's a week before RG.

I think he'll skip MC, Madrid, and go to Rome and then RG. I'm not sure if he'll play Stuttgart but likely play Halle before Wimby.

I think he skips Montreal and goes Cincinnati before USO. In the indoor season I think he plays Shanghai, Basel, and Bercy is 50/50 since it's a week before ATP WTF.
 
Fed already gave his schedule up to April. He mentioned it to the Australian press today when parading around his trophy:

Dubai
IW
Miami (yes, he confirmed he'll be there)

Then he said he will make his clay schedule in March.
 
Miami is not Fed's jam. I guess he will play Indian Wells, since his buddy Tommy Haas is the tournament director now.
