Feedback on groundstrokes footage

Hi guys

Just been getting back to playing some tennis again. Grateful for your feedback and critique on the below footage of my groundies.


I need to continue working on footwork. I also feel that I arm the ball too much (probably due to a lack of hip/torso rotation).

Since nobody has answered yet, here are my 2 cents :

-Good forehands
-Sometimes you hit a bit on the backfoot. Try to rotate into the ball as you said.
-What helps me tremendously is focusing on the right contact point and anticipating the bounce. Then I can confidently throw my body into the shot and uncoil.
-if coiling is an issue, try to exaggerate it during your preparation, and prepare a bit earlier to get more time to coil. You can move while coiled, it's what pros do.

On forehand, to me, it looks like you pull racquet back with your right arm and shoulder more than you turn left arm and shoulder to the right? If that makes sense? I would try to actively carry/push the racquet back with left arm and let that left arm stay out to the right side for a fraction longer before initiating forward-swing.
 
In general, you are starting your takeback preparation too late on your forehand. Most times, you don't really start it until the ball has bounced on your side of the court. So even though the balls coming to you aren't that fast, when they are deep you are late on the timing and compensate by falling backwards as you swing. Try to get your racquet preparation a bit earlier so your weight can at least remain neutral or better moving a bit forward into the shot. Probably some other things will change if you implement this different and earlier timing, so just work on that first and see how that works for you.

I was going to say the same ... get yourself racket back before the ball bounces! It’s amazing how much that can help the entire forehand stroke and contact point. In large part, getting the racket back early also means you need to decide whether you are hitting a forehand or backhand before the ball crosses the net. Being conscience of this issue can really help your game.

The one backhand you hit looked pretty clean.

On FH look at how your torso turn isn’t leading the way. 1) Fire the legs, 2) turn the torso, 3) let the torso turn pull your FH into a natural contact.

that’s not to say you’re way off right now. You’re pretty good, ur just kinda skipping the power you get from your torso turn. You’ll also have to adjust your time obviously
 
To start with, just focus on using your left arm on your forehand. Left arm should be out in front and firm, providing stability and a good posture from which to hit forward, when you're preparing your forehand swing.

A lot of the other rotation stuff people are talking about will come naturally from that.
