Haven't heard much about Fernando Gonzalez so far in 2010.
He already has sunk to rank 11.
What are your guy's predictions?
I think he'll start to rank down even lower.

He's my fave player so I'm biased but I dont think he's gonna fall off the radar

Unless his physical condition or motivation has deteriorated, he should stay in the 10-15 range. But I think they're are too many younger hungry guys for him to make the top 8. Has 180 points to defend right out of the box at the AO - 4th rd loss to Rafa. Could meet Berdych in the 3rd round...

It is hard to see him improving much more at this point in his career. With all the young talent coming up I also suspect he will slide at this point. I see Verdasco sliding too.

Fernando at the AO 2007 was a joy to watch.this year at RG he also played very well. I think Fernando in topform could have gotten a Grandslam. Just not in the Federer era I'm afraid.

That's a good summary I think. The Federer off-form of today reminds me somewhat of Fernando Gonzalez. 1 side extremely strong, but way too predictable on the other side, and very exploitable weaknesses. However, if you watch the AO 07 matches again, it was just awesome. Also on the backhand side. His touch imo is somewhat underrated and his serve is far from bad.

He is still working hard and he is fitter than ever IMO. What can he do now to better himself though? His game will always be mostly just forehand, and he will only go as far as that shot takes him. Since it isnt even the very best forehand in the game I dont think it can take him any further than it already has.

He's improved him backhand a lot over the last 3 years.

as long as his backhand stays solid like it has been lately and his forehand stays sharp.
then he'll have no problem performing well this year GO GONZO!!!!!
