JCF. Especially later in his career when he played some crazy 5 setters, like v. Monfils at USOpen. Loved his game when it was on, kind of a hyped up Ferrer

I didn't know where to put this thread since Ferrer is still an active player. If the moderators want to move it to the Former Player section, it's up to them. Anyway, who's your favorite of these three?

I rank them like this: 1) Ferreira, 2) Ferrer, 3) Ferrero.

I loved watching Wayne Ferreira play and he was a nightmare for Pete Sampras. Very complete player, no glaring weaknesses, quite reliable, but lacked perhaps the motivation to take it to the next level. Anyway, a very dangerous player nobody fancied to play in the early rounds of any tournament.

Ferrero came about at a time I stopped watching tennis (a period of about 3 years), he was even friends with some people I know, but I never really followed his career and his game doesn't quite do it for me.

Ferrer is a fighter and one of my favorite current players in terms of work ethics and perseverance. He probably deserved a better career than Ferrero but was unlucky to face the current generation of players who are still at the top of the game.

Good posts. I enjoy watching Ferreira too. He's such a nice person, exciting all-court player with good achievements. I remember in the early 90's he had the strongest forehand in the game beside to Courier. He played many unforgettable matches. He won Stuttgart in 2000 beating Hewitt in a tough five-set final. He beat Sampras in Lyon 1995 Final and reached Australian Open SF in 1992 and 2003. I recall he won 4 matches in a row over Sampras in their primes.

About Sampras's nightmare Stich and Krajicek are the names that come to my mind immediately.

Well, it depends whether peak Ferrero is the one who won RG in 2003 (beating Costa in the SF) or the one who lost the RG final to Costa the year before. Costa proved to be the better player on that occasion and their head-to-head is quite close (4-3 to Ferrero but let's not forget Costa was 5 years older and the last match of Albert's career was actually a tough three-setter he lost to Ferrero). It's closer than one might think.

Yes, it's the South-African. :)

I'd say peak Ferrero was late 2002-early 2004. After Rotterdam 2004, I'd say he was done at the top level. 2000-2002 Ferrero was very good and making strides, but not quite ready to win the big titles yet in my opinion. He was certainly a contender for many though.

He made the final at the Masters Cup in 2002, and lost a very close match against Hewitt.

That was after he lost to Costa at Roland Garros also.
