Fewest service games lost to win Grand Slam?

Borg and Nadal are up there i guess. I don't know the exact numbers.

It also wouldn't surprise me if one of Nadal's RG runs is up there even though it's on clay because he barely lost games in years 08, 10, and 17.

Not that I doubt you, but Federer's Wimby 2017 must be close to this.
He lost one service game to Lajovic, one to Dimitrov and one to Berdych.

So 3. But yeah, still impressive, especially since Fed was 10 years older than Pete was at 1997 Wimb.

Forgot about the Dimitrov one. Was going to guess 2 against Berdych and I knew he got broken against Lajovic.

Sampras deserves this one though.

He also lost a game to Zverev. Statistically speaking, players hold at a higher rate today than they did in 1997. Relative to 1997, it's rather amazing sampras did that.

True. Huge props to Pete.

And it seems like fed lost 4 service games at Wimb last year. One against the elder Zverev too.

Nadal lost one service game up to the final in USO13. Considering he didn't have a bomb of a serve like Sampras and Federer, that's pretty impressive. Don't think Djokovic has ever done anything like this at the majors.

Djokovic rarely breezes through GS draws anyway.

Except for AO 2011. Nobody could touch him. He was just playing like a God. I remember predicting him to win before it started, but I wasn't sure if he could get through Nadal. Then I watched his 1R vs Granollers and those doubts vanished. By the QF stage I considered it inevitable the way he outclassed Berdych. It was a dream come true; seeing the beauty and class of Djokovic's game in full flow through an entire Slam and watching him tear through a draw.

Fed lost one single service game on the way to the Wimbledon finals. Unfortunately that was in 2015 and then he met a very different opponent in the final. 2015 US Open had similar results, with Fed losing only two service games on his way to the final.

It all depends on who you play.

Nadal on a tear goes like 87/41 on clay, Fed's probably in the low to mid 90s on grass, so if he has a Slam without sets lost I imagine he's closer.

But yeah Sampras at Wimbledon is very likely to take it.

I'm not saying he's up there with Fed and Pete, but just saying it's impressive for Nadal who doesn't have a big serve.

I think everyone agrees he is not a big server, but since the title was "Fewest service games lost to win Grand Slam", it just seemed so odd :)

I think Nadal lost 4 at the 2010 US Open. 1 to Verdasco, 3 to Djokovic. I still laugh at his reasoning for not serving like that anymore.

That is as many service games as Sampras lost in his 7 Wimbledon finals .(He won 5 of the 7 finals without being broken)
