The better team on the night won. In the last few minutes of normal time it was all Spain attacking the England 12 yard box.

@Tiki-Taka is the best coach in the world.
What can I say, not everyone can coach a team to the World Cup while facing unrest within the squad. 8-B

It has seemed to me over the past few years that Spain have clearly had the best array of talent in women's football bar none, ahead of the USA, England, Australia, Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands etc. But of course their has been a huge amount of 'political tension' and in-fighting (well mostly the players hating the Jorge Vilda), absentees and just plain unlucky injuries, which they've had to manage and battle against.

During the Euros last year, I thought that they were the better team overall vs. England during the quarter-finals (and they'd lost Putellas and Hermoso just before the tournament started).

A first time winner of this tournament, which was already guaranteed after Sweden beat Japan in the quarter-finals, is great for women's football, and there's no doubt that this tourmament has been a big success and has allowed the sport to further grow and gain popularity.

My stream started to run dry soon after the Spanish goal, but at that point there was only one team playing the beautiful game.

And the Spanish team won despite their federation and management, which surely FIFA must take a look at if it is serious about the sport.

The fact that Spain are now the reigning World Cup, U-20 World Cup and U-17 World Cup champions, is incredible, and shows how much talent that they have at their disposal.

They won this tournament despite missing 12 players as a result of the disputes behind the scenes, several or whom such as Panos, Leon and Guijarro are among the best in the world in their respective positions.

Unfortunately the RFEF president Rubiales had to show what an utter sleazeball he is, and further highlight why so many of the Spanish female players complained about a lack of professionalism and respect.
