An underrated player who definitely deserves his own thread. Good luck to him in the very near future!

Nice username. Are you, by any chance, a fan of Andrey Rublev?
A fan of Andrey Rublev, Icon painter - yes
A fan of Andrey Rublev, film about Andrey Rublev - yes
A fan of Andrey Rublev, tennis player - not really, but he inspired me to add this pic of Tarkovsky making Andrey Rublev. At the time, 4-5 years ago he wasn't even in the Top 100 but now he reached Top10.

Wrong. A true fan of Tarkovsky would know that the painter and subject of his classic film is named Andrei, not Andrey.
An OG Rublev fan? Back then I thought he was overhyped and his career would pan out like Tomic or Young :-D. He's proving me wrong every day now.

I looked that discrepancy up recently, and according to Wikipedia, these are the Cyrillic spellings of both Rublevs' names:
Андре́й
Андре́й

Is there any reason to pick one letter instead of the other when translating? Honest question.

I was joking BTW, one letter isn't really a mistake lol.
But one letter does make a difference for names. I assume people in Russia have one standard spelling of their name in Latin script, otherwise it could get confusing.

I was wondering if it there was a specific translation ruleset, a bit like in Chinese or Japanese. Qiang and Chiang and Chang all sound the same to me, but I'm pretty sure they're written differently in Chinese. I thought Andrei and Andrey may have be been in two distinct names.

Agree. On a fast court, his uncluttered strokes and ability to redirect the ball with pace makes him great to watch.
He's a decent shot maker as well. He played some great tennis at Cinci this year, but his level seems to randomly drop though.

Hey he humiliated Thiem 62 61 in NY, right before the Austrian won his 1st GS. He isn't that bad...

He has big and pretty compact strokes. Like him.
That’s what I’m talking about. This was very exciting to read. :)

Served for the set was broken. Had set point in the tiebreak and lost it. These players are so weak mentally. Djokovic is very beatable but it’s sad to see players outplay him and then collapse.
He hugged Djokovic after the match => human waste

TTW: Novak is very beatable

Reality: in the last 43 matches played Novak only one player managed to beat him.

Since play resumed: When he played Nadal he got destroyed. He also didn’t play the likes of Thiem, Medvedev, Zverev, Rublev... He has beaten lower ranked players and the best player he has beaten is Tsitsipas and it took five sets on Clay. Djokovic’s current level is overrated.

Bla, bla, bla, bla

43 matches. 9 against top 10 players. 17 against top 20 players. Only Nadal managed to beat him

but TTW ‘experts‘ claim he is very beatable.

:D :D :D

Outplay him? If anything it's usually him handing them lifelines then crushing all hope in tight moments. :D

Djokovic said it himself in the interview afterwards, are you calling him a liar? :sneaky:
As long as we agree with Federer that he played better 5 than 15 years ago, and with Nadal that nobody played tennis at such a perfect level like Djokovic did, we can come to some agreement.

You are talking about tennis and Djokovic pre-COVID-19. Like I said he will never win another slam it has nothing to do with January 2020 or anything prior to COVID-19. He’s not the same player anymore especially mentally. He will beat good players but not the great ones. He will win tournaments but not the slams.

You are in for more rough weekends and wake up calls if you really believe that. :D
