finally.. no heel slippage. i tried many. the Nike Air Zoom Vapor Cage 4 won

Eclipsion 1 are the best, 2 have heel slippage but still a good shoe. I alternate between both on clay courts.
I know HC sole durability has been a problem on these so I'm looking for a HC shoe so maybe I'll try the Cage 4.
I use insoles, how do the fit on those ? A friend tried them and told me they feel snug (without insole)

No. They are generous in fit.

ive been wearing these a couple months now. great shoes, my only complaint is that theyre really heavy
Yeah. I would buy another pair in a heartbeat. I haven’t once thought about the weight. But I know some have mentioned that. I guess because I usually like the shoes in this weight

I have them in my regular CB size with a Dr. Scholls Atletic insole and is AMAZING!!!! The comfort was good with the regular insole (I bit thin) but with the Dr. Insoles I grip better to the court and more cushioning if that helps

I am thinking about buying these shoes. My only concern is achillies and calf problems. Has anyone experienced any issues? Calf/achillies is my biggest issue and that seems to be a negative about these shoes.

I've found the Vapor X to have the best heel and ankle fit. There is no heel lift at all. None.
fits me better than any other tennis shoe, ever. theyre like a lightweight glove. double edged sword though, bc not enough cushioning for these pathetic knees of mine

so over the past month i tried.
1. asics novac .. the upper material was too stiff for me. and when moving aggresively i could feel the material folding in on itslef on the upper toe area.. was super annoying. couldnt forget it any time they were on .
i had to get rid of em.
2. then tried the asics gel res 8. i had high hopes for these . Super comfy. feels like a soft running shoe. but the heel slippage .. damn the heel slippage. and to be honest.. didnt give that feel of support .. so you guessed it.
i had to get rid of em.
3. tried a NB. 996 v 3. great deal. but the fit was all wrong for me. felt like a brick. so you guessed it ..
i had to get rid of em.
4. yonex eclipsion 3. i had high hopes for these. cause i loved the first version from 4 years ago. loved. but ironically some heel slippage.. these probably would have worked in size 12.5. a half size smaller than my reg 13.
but they dont make them.,. so you guessed it
i had to get rid of em
5. nike air zoom vapor cage 4. from the first slip on to my feet. fit like a glove. encapsulates my entire foot perfectly. not one iota of heel slippage. comfort is excellent.
stability off the charts. my freinds this is the perfect shoe. and they fit me perfectly in my reg size 13. so if you have any quams about sizing.. just order two pairs.. and return one.
i cant tell you guys how happy i am with this shoe. it fits like a ski boot. i mean that in a good way. it just molded perfectly to my foot.. absolutely no heel slippage even from the first lace up.
thnaks tw. and nike. 5 stars.
shoe is way too heavy man.. did you think Novak shoe was just as fast as the Gel res 8 ? cushioning wise, which was better in giving back energy and bouncy energy ?

Yes, incredible fit. When I first moved from a different shoe to the X, they felt weird, tongue seemed like it wasn't wide enough to cover the top of my foot? etc. Once you get used to it it's amazing. Cushioning could be better in the forefoot, but (maybe I'm deluding myself), I feel like I move more lightly on my feet when I wear the X, with the result that my joints ache less after playing. (Supposedly research shows that if you have too much cushioning you land much heavier and harder because you have reduced proprioception).

Don’t understand the negative reviews for this shoe. Have been wearing them all year amd they are my favorite shoe since court ballistec 4.3

yeah ive heard that too. usually when shoes wear out they just get too soft, not too hard (twss). im definitely lighter on my feet in a lighter shoe.

I would avoid them since the way is constructed you will feel the heel high and drop in the ball of your feet is unconfortable at first since you feel a lot of work in your calf and recently I have some achillies pain and been playing recently mostly with the ZC4. Never had any issues with ZC3 or Ballistecs

I like the fact that Asics provides an extra hole for tying the shoelaces in a runner’s knot. If I don’t use a runner’s knot, I have heel slippage from the start with the GR8 and after about 40 hours with the FF2. But, if I use a runner’s knot using the extra hole, these shoes work well for me for about 65-70 hours before they get too soft. Asics can be used by more customers with different shaped feet for a particular shoe size due to the advantage of providing the extra hole for lacing - this is actually a good design feature.

The GR8 and FF2 shoes don’t last as long as the Barricades for me in terms of providing support and not getting soft early as I used to play 80-100 hours with the Barricade Novak (aka 7) in particular. I’m really looking forward to the 2021 model of the Barricades and hopefully they don’t mess around too much with the design features that made the Barricades great for customers who like heavy shoes with extra durability on hard courts.

I just bought a Nike Vapor Cage 4 since the Asics shoes are out of stock everywhere in my size and the reissued Barricade 2018s are available only in a white colorway which does not work well on winter nights for me when I dress in dark colors. I am looking forward to trying them out as I stopped wearing Nike eight years ago when I discovered the Barricade 7s which were the perfect shoe for my feet on hard courts.

I have been wearing them since they came out. I use inserts, wear 2 pair of socks. Beyond comfortable. I was initially concerned about the lacing system but no issues yet. Wear has been beyond my expectations. Honestly haven’t noticed the weight.
