Finally the over-rating of Djokovic based on AO SF/F can end now!

1. Djoko is the greatest AO champ, no question.

2. But Djoko was getting significantly over-rated there based on his SF/F record. Djoko at AO is worse than Fed at Wim level wise but has been far luckier with competition past prime or prime-ish level. Imagine fed of Wim 14, 15, 19 facing djoko AO 20/21/23 level competition.
Comparison of Djokovic at AO to nadal to RG is downright laughable.

The last actual high level opponent Djokovic faced at AO in the semi/final was AO 12 semi/final murray and nadal.
some decent to at best good opponents after that in SF/F, but nothing that tough. Of course he did face peak wawa in 4R and QF in AO 13 and 14, but those aren't SF or F. Wawa played lackluster in the AO 15 semi.

3. The AO 14 QF vs Wawa was like the de facto semi. and djoko was losing to Roddick in AO 09 QF, Tsonga in AO 10 QF - which is deep in the tournament.

4. Commentator Somdev was mentioning this is the first time Djoko has played AO SF/F in the day conditions

How can Djokovic at the AO be worse than Federer at W when Novak's 10/10 in AO finals, while Federer has lost 4 W finals, including one aged merely 26? Not to mention 10 > 8. Also, Federer was merely 32 in the W 2014 final. Djokovic was 36 in today's match against Sinner. Not the same situation. You can't sum it up all losses after age 30 as if they're all the same. 31 is not 39, and 32 is not 36.

dude, did not expect this from you. What an insult to peak nadal at Wimbledon. shame shame. you are hereby stripped of your Nadal fan status!

1. don't forget, djokovic aged 26 lost to wawa in QF of AO.
2. because fed has played at a higher level. Djoko at AO is worse than Fed at Wim level wise but has been far luckier with competition past prime or prime-ish level. Imagine fed of Wim 14, 15, 19 facing djoko AO 20/21/23 level competition.
if djoko of AO 20/21/23 had faced younger versions of himself like fed did in Wim 14/15, he'd have got beaten as well.

This might be the beginning of the end for our Djoker. Demolished by Sinner. How can an aging 36 year old Djoker ever come back against this kid?

One match Novak lost, that too a Top player and the rats are out of the gutter:-D

Not only Djokovic is more accomplished at AO than Fed at Wimbledon, he has been more dominant as well. No amount of excuses will change that

Fed went to 5 sets in 2003-09 Wim only 3 times (nadal, nadal, roddick)
Djoko went 5 sets in 08,11-16 like 6 times (murray, nadal, wawa, wawa, wawa, simon)
Federer was more dominant.

But then djoko---bots like you are just delusional.

and as far as the bolded statement is concerned, go ahead and show more of how pathetically classless you are. As if djoko vulturing like 8 slams wasn't enough for shameless people like you.

Unfortunately Djokovic has already vultured far too much so he'll always stay badly overrated, don'tchathink? We'll never get the hordes of djokostans, let alone the culprit himself, admitting that he's an altogether worse player than Federer and accordingly doesn't deserve nearly so much respect and admiration as has been heaped on him for being supposedly the best ever. Truly the morally lacking individuals in existence.

2. Except Novak there was non serious danger for Federer at Wimbledon for a long time.

3. Racket change in 2009 trow backed Novak for 2 years.

4. Novak lost today because his opponent played much better in windy conditions , historically it is his achilles heel from the start of his career. Not playing for several years in Indian Wells and Miami weekend his body to day conditions.

Going to 5 sets and losing with Matchpoints against Kandy Man et al is stuff of legends, I agree with you xD

It's okay kid, keep the anger down and chew on that 24 slams over 20 slams. You can try watching the Year end Finals where Federer was overtaken as well, that might cheer you up!

You cannot over-rate Djoker at AO. It would be like saying Nadal is over-rated at RG. Double digits speak for themselves.
Fed is not even close at W, lost to Djo 3 times...

and djoko of AO 20/21/23 wouldn't lose to someone playing at Wim 14/15 level as he did? Come on. get real.
its just djokovic has been very lucky at AO in 20/21/23.

and you just over-rated djokovic here by putting him with nadal at RG. My E-N-T-I-R-E F-U-***** point of the thread
also if I said fed much better than sampras at Wimbledon, that would be over-rating him, even if fed is the greatest at Wimbledon.

deal with it.

tennis has been saved from more vulturing by the luckiest player of all time.
fed was injured vs Anderson, but then classless ******** won't admit that.

What?

The guy lost his first semi final, after winning 10 in a row....how heck is that overrating. Only Nadal at RG is better.

answered in the opening post.
Also fed at Wim better than djoko at AO level wise. even if djokovic has achieved more.

Well said.

@abmk losing his mind over Fed being third wheel is a gift that keeps on giving. Really awesome lol ;)

Greatest of all time:
1. Fed
2. Laver
3. Gonzales
4. Djokovic
5. Nadal

sorry, djoko winning 11 slams in 6 prime years vs worse competition than fed winning 14 in 6 prime years is telling.
mega vulturing by Djokovic in asterisk/inflation eras - worst eras in open era ain't gonna make up for that.

Oh and
Fed went to 5 sets in 2003-09 Wim only 3 times.
Djoko went 5 sets in 08,11-16 AO like 6 times (murray, nadal, wawa, wawa, wawa, simon)

I'm going to enjoy tennis being saved from another vulturing by Djoko.

No one will ever say Nadal is overrated at Roland Garros - no one. Djokovic has never sailed through the AO, he's always struggled through the rounds.

Djokovic is still undefeated in AO finals so he can rest assured that his unblemished finals record is still preserved.

No, Djokovic is not overrated at AO, that is absurd.

You are entitled to your opinion about level.

yes, it is over-rated by some here:
a) when he's made out to be untouchable level in AO SF/F. he hasn't faced a real tough opponent in SF/F after AO 12. and he lost to Wawa in AO 14 QF - like de facto semi.
b) when compared to Nadal at RG

you can say Fed at Wimbledon would be over-rated if you said he was much better than Sampras for example. (which very few do) - even if he is the greatest there.

How can he be made out to be at an untouchable level, when we all saw him go five sets with Murray and then Nadal back to back in 2012 and then by Thiem in 2020?

Come on. This is just you taking a shot now that Djokovic lost.

It's whatever to me. I think he's had three great SF/F combos (2011, 2016, and 2019).

Federer at Wimbledon had three great SF/F combos too (2003, 2005, 2006).

Going based off of the top 3 I think Federer's level was on average higher. Djokovic arguably had the best opponent of them all though (2011 Federer at AO > 2006 Nadal or 2003 Roddick at Wimbledon). However, Murray was not very impressive in either final and Nadal played poorly in the 2019 final.

Although I wouldn't overrate 2011 Federer in terms of level. There's no way 2011 Federer at AO would've gotten through the 2004 or 2005 AO draw IMO.

but that's the point. you know the reality and speak it in this case (djoko also went 5 vs wawa in AO 15 semi btw)
But there were some posts by others before saying he was untouchable at AO in SF/F. and couple boasting he was undefeated in AO SF/F, but nadal was not (after RG 21 SF)., some equating him with Nadal at RG etc.

This is a thread because of all that. Else reasonable fans like you know Djoko's reign at AO had to come to an end some time.

So, just a thread to go after the trolls after Djokovic lost then?

Most of us know Djokovic isn't bullet proof, he has had to battle hard to win some of these matches.

Results wise only Nadal at RG is better, but if you go by the eye test, the fact that Federer had Nadal at Wimbledon, and then Djokovic really dented what could’ve been an equally-impressive title run at Wimbledon.

Of course Djokovic himself with no GOAT contender in the generation right after him hot on his heels like he himself did to Nadal (and Federer before that) may have helped pad his own slam count at the AO and Wimbledon, but I would argue that if anything that makes Federer at Wimbledon underrated because of his losses incurred trying fend off a much younger GOAT contender in Djokovic in the years 2012-2019 whilst simultaneous setting the precedent of a mid-late thirties player being a serious slam contender.

In my mind the latter if anything may be overlooked because Djokovic himself would’ve seen Federer and aged knowing it was possible and just replicated it, albeit against NextGen and not someone of Djokovic’s calibre. That explains both his and to a lesser extent, Nadal’s success in their 30s.

I think you mean great+dominant SF/F combos.

else fed in Wim 04/07/09/12 was excellent in SF/F as well.

djoko in 08/12/13 AO also.

making it 7 for fed at Wim to 6 for djoko at AO.

2011 AO fed, 06 nadal, 03 roddick Wim are all close anyways level wise.

Unlike Fed at W’14, Djoko was defending champion at this AO, undisputed world No1, coming off a 3 slam year and a whisker from making THE GRAND SLAM since Rod Laver. No comparison.
