Finding consistancy against pushers

I beat another slice pusher 6-4, but there is still a problem. I lost the first 4 games, and this is a consistance pattern. I have beaten three pushers in a row, but I consistantly lose at the start. The worst was 5 games in a row, before I won the next 7.

It is like reverse scoreboard pressure, I can only play well when I am massively behind.

I think the problem is I find it difficult to tune into these awkward balls. I know I have to avoid simply dinking them, and I have to hit them with purpose.

When I am in control of game I use the forehand to keep the pusher constantly moving till I can get the ball past them. However at the beginning of matches I either miss or play too conservatively.

Since I can't rely on constantly getting out of trouble, is there anyway to find rhythm quicker?
